Down to 11
Level: 28 (60000/120000/120000) Entries: 11/1565 Prizes: $516,450 Mason St. Martin just hit the rail for 12th place today ($3,766) after a big confrontation with chip leader Colin Burton. St. Martin raised preflop under the gun and Burton called from the big blind. It all went off on the flop of [invalid notations] smashed the trip eights for the win after the rest of the board bricked out for the overpair.

Shuali Shoves Turn
Level: 28 (60000/120000/120000) Entries: 12/1565 Prizes: $516,450 It was blind on blind when Matt Hall limped the small and Kali Shuali checked her option in the big. They both checked the 6♥A♥7♥ flop but Hall led for 125k on the A♠ turn. Shuali took a second before announcing all in for a smaller stack than Hall, but Hall elected to fold showing a 6♦ as he did.

Two Off the Final Table
Level: 27 (50000/100000/100000) Entries: 12/1565 Prizes: $516,450 They are down to 2 off the final table now with 12 players left in the game. Cashing players since my last update are below.
Place Player Prize 13 Rami Hammoud $3,766 14 Mohsen Shafizadeh $3,127 15 David Katzov $3,127 16 Cory Hauser $3,127 17 Senthuren Indrasithu $3,127 -
HORSE Up to 98 Entries
Level: 8 (600/1200, 1200/2400, 300/300/1200) Entries: 80/98 Prizes: $68,110 The HORSE game is getting good turnout considering how unusual the game is for this market. They are just shy of 100 entries and Paul Sokoloff is now among the players having busted out of the Seniors game in 57th place for $844. Level 8 has just begun so there are just under two levels of entry left in this one — it looks like a decent bet to crack 100 entries.

In the Money
Level: 15 (6000/12000/12000) Entries: 54/564 Prizes: $186,120 The Seniors is moving quickly despite the big field with just 54 players left in the game in Level 15. Payouts to date are below, with the full prizes under the payouts tab.

Burton Leads at Break
Level: 26 (40000/80000/80000 Entries: 14/1565 Prizes: $516,450 Colin Burton is the leader at the dinner break with almost 4 million. Full stacks are below.
Player Chips Colin Burton 3,940,000 Roy(Shane) Kozniuk 3,680,000 Caleb Simmons 2,745,000 Tyler Panas 2,725,000 Kali Shuali 2,700,000 Pieter Kobben 2,645,000 Evan Casey 2,095,000 Steve Dejarlais 1,715,000 Eyal Pevzner 1,650,000 Mason St. Martin 1,600,000 Rami Hammoud 1,430,000 Josh Myers 1,390,000 Matt Hall 1,285,000 Mohsen Shafizadeh 890,000 -
Dejarlais Sends Hauser to Rail
Level: 26 (40000/80000/80000) Entries: 15/1565 Prizes: $516,450 Kali Shuali opened the action from the cutoff to 180k before Cory Hauser shoved his button for about 1.3 million. Big blind Steve Dejarlais hit the tank for a bit before reshoving for a bit more, while Shuali snap-mucked.
Hauser was on Q♥9♥ against pocket queens for Dejarlais and the queens held to send Hauser to the rail in 16th place.
Meanwhile, on the other table, Colin Burton picked up some dead money after he shoved his big blind over a raise to 200k from Tyler Panas in the middle, forcing Panas to fold.
They are now five minutes from the dinner break when I’ll get a good look at all the stacks in play.

Katzov Gets There
Level: 26 (40000/80000/80000) Entries: 17/1565 Prizes: $516,450 Josh Myers opened to 160k from the middle before big blind David Katzov shoved. Myers called it off with more and looked to be in good shape with ace-king over ace-queen. Poker had other ideas, however, and Katzov spiked both an ace and a queen on the flop, boating up with another queen on the turn for the win.
“I don’t know how I can lose ace-king into ace-queen so often,” Myers said as he was counting out the double. Day 2 will be going on a dinner break following this level, and I’ll grab full chip counts then for all remaining players.

75 Entries for HORSE So Far
Level: 4 (300/500, 500/1000, 100/200/500) Entries: 75/75 Prizes: $52,125 The turnout for the HORSE is pretty decent considering how unusual the game is compared to most poker here in Alberta lately. The field is up to 75 entries for more than $50k in prizes.
It was no surprise to see Thomas Taylor show up for this one — he is a high-stakes mixed game tournament specialist who routinely hits the final table of big mixed games at the WSOP every summer, so he’ll be one of the favorites in this today. His main competition likely would have been Paul Sokoloff, who is also a high-stakes mixed game specialist, though his specialty tends more to the cash side, but Sokoloff had a tough decision today — whether to try and defend his Seniors ring, or jump into the HORSE. He elected to get into the Seniors this morning, despite the late night last night in the Mystery Bounty, so unless he busts early over there, we won’t likely see him in this one.
Other players in the field include Ronnie Dattani, Mike Malm, Chris Alcindor, Shane Brotherwood, Antoine Saddleback, Hari Aujla, Greg Genge, Stephen Dauphinais, Tyler Hurman, Michael Khan, Gail Flaherty, David Ko, Ryan Smith, Calvin Lake, and Andrew Goosen.

Nearly 50 HORSE Riders
Level: 1 (100/200, 200/400, 100/100/200) Entries: 48/48 Prizes: $33,360 The HORSE game is now underway with Level 1 about halfway complete and the field at 48 entries. Given that this is the first HORSE game in Alberta in recent memory, it’s a bit difficult to estimate numbers, but the turnout so far feels pretty solid given how long it’s likely been since anyone in the field played live stud games.
I won’t be watching this one very closely for Day 1 as I’ll be on Day 2 of the 4-Flight and then the endgame of the Seniors tournament. However, Day 2 of this one will be my main focus on Monday.
-
Down to 23 Players Remaining
Level: 24 (25000/50000/50000) Entries: 23/1565 Prizes: $516,450 They are down to 23 left in the 4-Flight now with just under 30 minutes to play in Level 24. See below for a look at payouts since my last update.
Place Player Prize 24 Bobby Lauderville $2,650 25 Jeffery Clarke $2,650 26 Kyle Chang $2,650 27 Varanpreet Sidhu $2,291 -
50 Off the Money
Level: 12 (2000/4000/4000) Entries: 135/564 Prizes: $186,120 The Seniors game is down to 135 players left with the action in Level 12. They’ll go for a dinner break following this level and it looks like the bubble will come in Level 14 or 15 tonight.
-
New Record Confirmed – $33k to the Winner
Level: 11 (1500/3000/3000) Entries: 162/564 Prizes: $186,120 The prizes are in for the Seniors game and the field is confirmed at 564 entries for more than $186k in prizes. The winner later tonight is set to pocket $33,615 with more than $100k on the final table.
I likely won’t be over to watch this one until they are well into the money, but it will also depend on how late Day 2 of the 4-Flight runs.

I made a small error on my last post of payouts, missing one player and reporting the wrong finish for a few others as a result. That is corrected in the list below, and 72nd place has now reported in as well.

564 Entries is New Record for Calgary Seniors
Level: 9 (1000/1500/1500) Entries: 252/564 Prizes: $186,120 Entries are now closed on the Seniors game and it was a huge one. The numbers are still unofficial, but the final tally on the board was 564 entries for prizes of $186,120. That’s a new record for the Seniors game here in Calgary beating the previous high by more than 100 entries.
If the numbers hold, it looks like 85 players will getting a piece of the prizes later tonight, and this could be a late one, given the size of the field.

42 Players Remain

There are about 30 minutes to play in Level 22 with the next break scheduled following Level 23. The average stack right now is about 730k which is a bit more than 24 big blinds in the current level.

More than $1 Million in Prizes So Far
Level: 7 (400/800/800) Entries: 329/529 Prizes: $174,570 The Day 2 players are back in their seats for the first level at 45 minutes. I’ve just been collating the data from all the events so far, and the series has already capped $1 million in total prizes without even considering the Seniors and HORSE games set to run today. With those included, it’s likely that the total prizes at the end of Sunday will be in the range of $1.4 million or more with the Seniors field closing in on $175k in prizes.
It remains to be seen how the turnout will be in the final week of the series starting tomorrow, but it’s still looking pretty good to meet or beat the 2024 Jan total of $5.8 million.

Seniors Beat 2024
Level: 6 (300/600/600) Entries: 354/471 Prizes: $155,100 The Seniors field today is now the second event to beat the 2024 numbers after the first event of the series beat it by 1 entry. This win is a bit more significant, however, as they are already close to 20 extra over 2024 with just under 2 hours left to enter the game. Given the current numbers, it seems likely this one will cap 500, which will be the first time the Seniors has ever gone that big here at WSOP-C Calgary. The prizes are currently over $155k.

Down to 68 Left
Level: 19 (10000/15000/15000) Entries: 68/1565 Prizes: $516,450 As expected, things are moving pretty quickly and they are down to 68 players left in Day 2 of the 4-Flight now. -
81 Players Returning
Level: 18 (6000/12000/12000) Entries: 81/1,565 Prizes: $516,450 Day 2 is about to get underway with 81 players returning. They are all in the money with the min-cash today set at $1,739 and more than $70k up top for the winner later today. I expect the early part of today will be mostly just responding to bustouts, but as the field thins and the pace slows, I’ll get some action in as well.
-
Huge Field for Seniors
Level: 4 (200/400/400) Entries: 424/424 Prizes: $139,590 It’s a big turnout for the Seniors today. The action is still in Level 4 with more than 2 hours left to enter and the field is already over 400 entries. Last January the field was 453 total, and they are now less than 30 away from that total so it seems very likely this event will cap the 2024 number.
I won’t be following this one very closely until later in the day as my early day will be focused on Day 2 of the 4-Flight.

Adrian Selero Wins Mystery Bounty for $27,617
It took more than 13 hours to decide the Mystery Bounty but in the end, Adrian Selero took down the big prize tonight. He was a middling stack for most of the final table, but found a new gear near the end, first sending Shaun Scrymgeour out in 3rd place before besting Russ King, who had been the big stack fro much of the final phase.
The final hand saw King flop the lead with an ace pair of aces, but Selero flopped a royal gutshot, needing the K♥ to complete. The turn bricked for him, but the river brought an offsuit king for the basic straight, which was still plenty to take it all down.
-
Russ King Out in 2nd Place for $18,411
Level: 29 (100000/150000/150000) Entries: 1/459 Prizes: $236,385 ($144,585 prizes, $91,800 bounties) Russ King Russ King was the big stack for much of the endgame tonight, but when things got heads up it turned around. Adrian Selero had the lead after sending Shaun Scrymgeour to the rail in third, and shortly after, it all went in when King qoke up with ace-three of spades against jack-ten of hearts for Selero.
Selero flopped a royal gutshot, then rivered the straight with an offsuit king to take it down.
-
Shaun Scrymgeour Out in 3rd Place for $13,038
Level: 29 (100000/150000/150000) Entries: 2/459 Prizes: $236,385 ($144,585 prizes, $91,800 bounties) Shaun Scrymgeour It wasn’t easy, but Adrian Selero finally got the best of Shaun Scrymgeour. After doubling him off a couple of times, Selero finally held with ace-five over ace-deuce and the five played for the win.
-
Scrymgeour Doubles Again
Level: 29 (100000/150000/150000) Entries: 3/459 Prizes: $236,385 ($144,585 prizes, $91,800 bounties) Shaun Scrymgeour shoved for 850k from the button and Adrian Selero reshoved the small blind while big stack Russ King got out of the way. Scrymgeour had kings against ace-eight of spades and he flopped the set before turning a boat against trip eights for Selero.
-
Scrymgeour Holds with Nines
Level: 29 (100000/150000/150000) Entries: 3/459 Prizes: $236,385 ($144,585 prizes, $91,800 bounties) Shaun Scrymgeour shoved the small blind for 675k and Adrian Selero called from the big. Scrymgeour had pocket nines against A♣6♣ and the nines held on the board of 8♥7♠10♦Q♦5♦. Russ King is still in the lead.
-
Selero Gets There for a Double
Level: 29 (100000/150000/150000) Entries: 3/459 Prizes: $236,385 ($144,585 prizes, $91,800 bounties) Adrian Selero shoved the small blind for 1.675 million and Russ King called it off from the big. King was in good shape with the best jack, holding jack-nine gainst jack-three. Selero hit his three on the flop, though, and nothing else hit.
-
Easton Walker Out in 4th Place for $9,383
Level: 28 (60000/120000/120000) Entries: 3/459 Prizes: $236,385 ($144,585 prizes, $91,800 bounties) Easton Walker Easton Walker was down to barely enough to pay his big blind, with only 50k behind once he posted ante and blind. The rest of the table limped in before he threw in the extra 50k, and they all called. Action checked through the 8♦4♥4♣J♣Q♦ and Russ King’s jack was enough to take it down.
-
Paul Sokoloff Out in 5th Place for $6,863
Level: 28 (60000/120000/120000) Entries: 4/459 Prizes: $236,385 ($144,585 prizes, $91,800 bounties) Paul Sokoloff It was a brutal end for Paul Sokoloff as he got his remaining 1.2 million in with aces and looked in good shape to double until Adrian Selero rivered trip nines to crack the rockets.
-

Level: 28 (60000/120000/120000) Entries: 5/459 Prizes: $236,385 ($144,585 prizes, $91,800 bounties) It was limped preflop between Easton Walker and Russ King in the blinds. King called with more and was in good shape with ace-jack against ace-seven. As the saying goes, however, it’s always coming seven and that was true this time as the board ran out 6♣5♠7♠Q♠A♦.
-
Tony Melowsky Out in 6th Place for $5,104
Level: 26 (40000/80000/80000) Entries: 5/459 Prizes: $236,385 ($144,585 prizes, $91,800 bounties) Tony Melowsky They are down to 5 now after Tony Melowski got his remaining 800k in with pocket fives but ran into queens for Paul Sokoloff. Level: 25 (30000/60000/60000) Entries: 6/459 Prizes: $236,385 ($144,585 prizes, $91,800 bounties) Rob McMullin When action folded to Rob McMullin in the small blind, he shoved. Russ King looked at his hand in the big blind and said “I think I gotta call you.”
McMullin was dominated with ace-six into ace-queen, and the board missed both hands to send McMullin to the rail in 7th.

Sokoloff Finds a Double
Level: 25 (30000/60000/60000) Entries: 7/459 Prizes: $236,385 ($144,585 prizes, $91,800 bounties) Tony Meloqwsky opened the cutoff to 175, then called off when Paul Sokoloff shoved the small blind for 425k. Melowsky was dominated with J♥10♥ against A♣J♦ for Sokoloff. There was an ace on the flop and that was enough for Sokoloff to score the double.
Sokoloff will likely have a decision to make tomorrow, though the late hour might make it for him. He has Seniors rings already, so he is always eager to jump in that one, but he’s also known as a high-stakes mixed-game specialist, so he’ll also be very interested in Day 1 of the HORSE tomorrow. It’ll be interesting to see which one he ends up in.

Down to Seven Left
Level: 24 (25000/50000/50000) Entries: 7/549 Prizes: $236,385 ($144,585 prizes, $91,800 bounties) Julius Roque Brian Mennis Michael Khan While I was doing the pictures, there were a few players to hit the rail. Shortly after the FT started, Julius Roque (10th) and Brian Mennis (9th) both went out to big stack Tony Melowsky. Roque was on ace-five and the shortest stack against Mennis with queens and Melowsky with eights. The board ran out to four hearts with Melowsky holding the 8♥ for the double knockout.
A few hands later, Michael Khan also hit the rail for 8th place, but I missed the action. He found a few doubles early on, including winning a race with ace-king over nines, but he bowed out in 8th place.

Level: 17 (5000/10000/10000) Entries: 54/459 Prizes: $236,385 ($144,585 prizes, $91,800 bounties) The field is down to 54 players left now, and the first big bounty has been pulled. Kory Dadgar pulled a yellow card out of the bin worth $1,728. He grabbed the bounty when he reshoved the small blind after a smaller shove. Calvin Lake called with a covering stack for both from the big blind looking for a double knockout. Lake had pocket tens, against ace-queen for Dadger, and ace-six for the original shove. Dadgar hit his queen and held for the win and the yellow bounty. Lake was left short and hit the rail shortly after for 55th place.

Time to Get on the HORSE
Event 7: $800 HORSE ($695 + $105) Date: Jan 12, 3 PM Blinds: 40 Minutes Starting Stack: 30k Late Entry: 9 Levels (~9:45) Day 1 Ends: 12 Levels (~11:45 PM) Sunday marks a new era in Alberta poker with the first HORSE tournament in modern memory. While Deerfoot put on a HOSE game a few years ago, razz wasn’t an approved game at the time, so they weren’t able to run the full HORSE rotation.
That has changed for 2025 and the full HORSE rotation will be in play for Event #7. The action will change games every 8 hands moving through limit holdem, limit O8, limit razz, limit stud, and limit stud8 before starting the rotation all over again.
The action gets going at 3 pm and there are nine levels of late entry on Day 1. That will put the final entry around 9:45 PM, with another three levels to play on Day 1 after that. At the end of Level 12 (which should be at about 11:45 PM), all remaining players will bag up their chips for Day 2 at 1 PM on Monday.
I won’t be watching Day 1 of this game very closely, but I plan to make it my main focus for Monday’s Day 2.

Level: 17 (5000/10000/10000) Entries: 39/563 (91/1,565) Prizes: $185,790 ($516,450 total) Flight 1d is now down to 39 players left in the action with about 5 minutes to play in Level 17. That puts them 10 players away from an early end to the night with three more levels on the schedule before the hard stop, so it seems likely the night will end early.

Seniors on Sunday
Event 6: $400 Seniors ($330 + $70) Date: Jan 12, 11 AM Blinds: 30 Minutes Starting Stack: 20k Late Entry: 8 Levels (~3:30 PM) Day 1 Ends: One-Day Event The Seniors game is the early start on Sunday with the game kicking off at 11 AM. Players will sit down with 20k in chips to play 30-minute levels for the whole day.
Late registration is open for 8 levels plus breaks which should put the last chance to enter at about 3:30 pm. This is a one-day event so once entries close, they’ll be playing down to a winner before they shut down for the night.
I likely won’t be watching this one very closely in the early part of the day as my attention will be on Day 2 of the 4-Flight, but once that game ends I’ll move over to cover the endgame of this one.

More than 400 Entries
Level: 9 (1000/1500/1500) Entries: 208/423 Prizes: $217,845 ($133,245 prizes, $84,600 bounties) There are about 10 minutes to play in Level 9 with another level of poker before the end of entries and the field is at 423 entries now. Registration will close in less than an hour, but that still gives a fair bit of time to increase the numbers.

53 Players Left to Start Level 16
Level: 16 (4000/8000/8000) Entries: 53/563 (105/1,565) Prizes: $185,790 ($516,450 total) The 1d field is down to 53 players now with Level 16 just underway. They’ll go for the final break of the night following this level, and it looks like they’ll be within 20 players of the early bags when they hit the break. See below for payouts since my last update.

Level: 14 (3000/5000/5000) Entries: 71/563 (123/1,565) Prizes: $185,790 ($516,450 total) The numbers are dropping in 1d with 71 players left in the action now. Level 14 has about 5 minutes left to play with the final break of the day scheduled following Level 16.
Based on the current pace, it looks like the bags will probably come out in Level 19, but there’s a lot of poker to play between now and then. See below for the payouts since my last update.

In the Money
Level: 14 (3000/5000/5000) Entries: 84/563 (136/1,565) Prizes: $185,790 ($516,450 total) The bubble lasted three hands and they are now in the money with 84 players left in the game. There’s a bit of a rush on the payout desk right now, so I’ll publish a list of cashing players shortly once the line reduces.

Bubble Time
Level: 13 (20004/4000/4000) Entries: 86/563 (138/1,565) Prizes: $185,790 ($516,450 total) They are on the bubble now with 86 players left in the game. The clock is now paused with 5:45 remaining in Level 13, and they’ll manually drop the clock by two minutes for every hand played.
-
Back from Dinner
Level: 13 (2000/4000/4000) Entries: 94/563 (146/1,565) Prizes: $185,790 ($516,450 total) .They are back from dinner now with 94 players left in the game so it looks likely that the bubble will come sometime in this level.

Everyone Loves a Mystery
Level: 5 (300/600/600) Entries: 254/335 Prizes: $172,525 ($105,525 prizes, $67,000 bounties) It’s a big turnout for the Mystery Bounty tonight with the field at 335 entries before the first break of the day. That puts the total prize pool at more than $170k with $67,000 of that in the Bounty pool now.
There are still about 3 hours left in the registration period for this one as well, so the numbers look to grow significantly still. Last January’s Mystery Bounty got 472 entries by the time it all closed down, so it’s looking like a reasonable bet that this year will be similar.

100 Players Left on Dinner
Level: 12 (1500/3000/3000) Entries: 100/563 (152/1,565) Prizes: $185,790 ($516,450 total) They are 15 off the money as the dinner break kicks off. They’ll come back in about 40 minutes to 2k/4k/4k action in Level 13 with the average stack at a bit less than 30 big blinds.
With only 15 to go until the money, it seems likely the bubble will come late in Level 13 or early Level 14 and from there, it will be a race to 29 players or the end of Level 20, whichever comes first.
-
Down to 117 Left
Level: 12 (2000/3000/3000) Entries: 117/563 (169/1,565) Prizes: $185,790 ($516,450 total) They are down to 13 tables left in action now with about 10 minutes to play in Level 12. The 45-minute dinner break is scheduled at the end of this level, so it looks like the bubble will come sometime after dinner. It’s likely the numbers will still drop a bit in the next 10 minutes, but they’ll still likely be ~20 off the money when dinner begins.

Day 1d Prizes are In
Level: 11 (1500/2500/2500) Entries: 153/563 (205/1,565) Prizes: $185,790 ($516,450 total) The numbers are now official with 563 entries recorded for Day 1d, putting the event total at 1,565. That puts the combined prizes at $516,450 and the full Day 2 prizes should be published before the end of the night.
Day 1d got $185,790 in total prizes and $49,684 of that us set to be handed out tonight with the rest moving to tomorrow’s Day 2 prizes. Prizes will start getting paid out at 85th place, and at least 29 players will bag chips for Day 2.

Down to 171
Level: 10 (1000/2000/2000) Entries: 171/563 (223/1,565) Prizes: $185,790 ($516,450 total) It looks like the number crunching turned up one fewer entries than previously recorded, with the 1d field now showing 563. I’m still waiting for the prize pool for confirmation of the numbers, but the difference doesn’t really change much about the end of the night or qualifying players.
Stay tuned for final confirmation of the numbers, but the remaining field is now down to 171 players left with about 15 minutes to play in Level 10.

Event 5: $600 Mystery Bounty ($315 + $200 + $85) Date: Jan 11, 4 PM Blinds: 25 MInutes Starting Stack: 25k Late Entry: 10 Levels (~8:50 PM) Day 1 Ends: One-Day Event The side event on Saturday is the Mystery Bounty. The action kicks off at 4 pm and entries are open for 10 levels (25 minutes each) which should put the final chance to buy in at around 8:50 pm tonight.
After entry closes, it will be a race to the finish as this is a one-day event. $200 from the buy in goes to the Mystery bounty pool, and those bounties go into effect when players hit the money.

Day 1d Entries Top Out at 564
Level: 9 (1000/1500/1500) Entries: 234/564 (286/1,566) Prizes: $186,120 ($516,780 total) Entries are now closed for Day 1d of the 4-Flight and the final field is set. Deerfoot staff are still crunching the numbers to verify the prizes today, but it looks like 564 entries today made for a grand total of 1,566 and prizes of $516,780.
Today’s players will be playing for a share of $186,120 collected today, and it looks like 85 players will figure in the cash with at least 28 moving through to tomorrow’s final day. I’ll confirm all the numbers when the Day 1d prizes are posted, and I should have a look at the Day 2 payouts shortly as well.

25 Minutes to Go in Entry
Level: 8 (600/1200/1200) Entries: 251/534 (303/1,536) Prizes: $176,220 ($506,880 total) There are just over 10 minutes to play in Level 8 with the final break of registration scheduled after this level. That means there are about 25 minutes left to enter the 4-Flight. The current field across all starting flights is 1,536 for combined prizes of $506,880. Those numbers will likely still increase a bit over the next 25 minutes or so, and I’ll post an update once Level 9 begins.
-
Final Level of Entry
Level: 8 (600/1200/1200) Entries: 256/515 (308/1,517) Prizes: $169,950 ($500,610 total) The prize pool is now over $500k across all four flights with 512 entries on the board for 1d. That puts the total field so far at 1,514, but there are still about 40 minutes left to enter this final flight.
There are now just over 20 minutes to play in Level 8.
-
Closing in on 1,500 Entries
Level: 6 (400/800/800) Entries: 254/462 (306/1,464) Prizes: $152,460 ($483,120 total) The final flight is well underway now with action in Level 6. There are about 15 minutes to play in that level with two more entry levels before it all shuts down.
The 1d field is now ate 462 entries with ~254 players still in play. That puts the combined field at 1,464 and climbing. It looks pretty likely the field today will cap 500 entries for a total of more than 1,500 entries with another 90 minutes or so to enter the game.
Kim Pham, Tang Jooce, George Mounsef, Shawn Sperber, Jacob Parent, Mike Malm, Laurence Louie, and Black Chip Bounty winner Jordan Banfield are among the players in action today.

Final Flight to the 4-Flight Now Boarding
Event 4: $400 4-Flight ($330 + $70) Date: Day 1a: Jan 9 – 4 PM
Day 1b: Jan 10 – 11 AM
Day 1c: Jan 10 – 4 PM
Day 1d: Jan 11 – 11 AM
Day 2: Jan 12 – 1 pmBlinds: 30 Minutes Starting Stack: 20k Late Entry: 8 Levels (~3:45) Day 1 Ends: Level 20 (or %5 of the field) Bash Ramahi is the stack to beat for 1d players on Saturday. He is the only stack bigger than 800k after bagging the 1c and overall lead tonight.
The 1d action gets going at 11 am and it promises to be a big one. The numbers for this year’s event have been slightly lower than last year, but 1d still promises to be the biggest of the lot, with 400+ entries a solid bet. So far the field is at 1,002 from the first three flights, so 1d needs to be truly stupendous to beat the Jan 2024 field of 1,715, but last year, 1d was 50% bigger than 1c. If that increase holds for this year, it will mean a total field approaching 1,600 entries.
I’ll likely be a bit late to the floor for this one, but will be focused here for the day once I get in.

“Daddy” Bash Bags Biggest
The 1c chips are in and “Big Daddy” Bash Ramahi bagged the biggest of the day, and the tournament so far. Earlier in the night he asked me what the biggest stack was, and when I told him Deven Lane bagged almost 800k on 1a, he immediately sent a troll voicemail to Lane, then proceeded to best the stack.

Jeremy Harper, Mason St. Martin, and Peter Darlington round out the top five stacks from 1c. Darlington will be one to watch on Sunday as he’ll be playing more than half a million and he already knows how to win this ring, having won the May 2024 edition of this tournament.

Level: 19 (10000/15000/15000) Entries: 21/385 (52/1,002) Prizes: $127,050 ($330,660 total) They are on the bubble to the end of the night now with 21 players left in the game. The next elimination will bring out the bags. Level 19 has just under 25 minutes to play with another level on the schedule following this one, but it seems very unlikely it’ll last that long.

Final Three Tables
Level: 18 (6000/12000/12000) Entries: 27/385 (59/1,002) Prizes: $127,050 ($330,660 total) They are down to the final three tables now with 27 left as Level 18 begins. That puts them 7 eliminations off the early bags with almost three full levels left to play on the schedule. Cashing players since my last update are below.

Break Time
Level: 16 (4000/8000/8000) Entries: 30/385 (62/1,002) Prizes: $127,050 ($330,660 total) They are just 11 off the early end to 1c as they head out for break following Level 16. There are 30 players left in action at the break, so it looks likely the bags will come out sometime in Level 17 or 18. Cashing players since my last update are listed below.

Level: 15 (3000/6000/6000) Entries: 41/385 (73/1,002) Prizes: $127,050 ($330,660 total) They are down to 41 players left in Day 1c with about 5 minutes to play on Level 15. They’ll go for the final break of the night following Level 16 and it seems likely this flight will end early, likely in Level 17 or 18. See below for the cashing players since my last update.

In the Money
Level: 15 (3000/6000/6000) Entries: 52/385 (84/1,002) Prizes: $127,050 ($330,660 total) Flight 1c is now in the money with 52 players left in the game now. They’ll be playing down to 20 players tonight, or the end of Level 20, whichever comes first. Below is a look at the first 6 players to cash out on 1c.
Place Player Prize 53 Geraldine Spears $808 54 Thomas Mcinnis $808 55 Derek Holme $808 56 Parth Mansukh $808 57 Dee Nguyen $808 58 Ryan Johal $808 -
14 Off the Money
Level: 13 (2000/4000/4000) Entries: 72/385 (104/1,002) Prizes: $127,050 ($330,660 total) There are about 15 minutes to play in Level 13 with the field down to 72 players left now. That puts them 14 off the 58 paid spots for tonight so it seems like a decent bet that they’ll hit the bubble sometime near the end of this level or the start of 14.
-
385 Entries for 1c
Level: 10 (1000/2000/2000) Entries: 126/385 (159/1,002) Prizes: $127,050 ($330,660 total) Entries are closed for 1c now with 385 entries on the board. That puts the combined total at 1,002 with one more flight to run on Saturday morning.
The total prizes so far are just over $330k with $127,050 coming from 1c. At least 20 players will be advancing to Day 2 from 1c, while 58 players will be part of the money.

Final Level of Entry
Level: 8 (600/1200/1200) Entries: 185/352 (232/969) Prizes: $116,160 ($319,770 total) The combined prizes are now nearing $320k with 352 entries on the board in 1c to start the final level of entries. That puts the combined field so far at 969 with a full flight yet to run tomorrow, but it seems likely we’ll see another 20+ entries in 1c before it finally shuts down for the night.
-
More than 900 Entries in Total
Level: 6 (400/800/800) Entries: 199/316 (273/933) Prizes: $104,280 ($307,890 total) The combined prizes are now over $300k with 933 entries across all three flights. There is still more than an hour left to enter 1c, so there’s a good chance the combined total will be at around 1,000 by the end of entries.
-
240 Entries to Start Level 4
Level: 4 (300/500/500) Entries: 216/240 (300/857) Prizes: $79,200 ($282,810 total) Level 4 has just begun with 240 entries on the board and 216 players still in action. That brings the 3-flight total to 857 entries for combined prizes of more than $280k.
Registration for 1c is open until the start of Level 9, which should be around 8:30 pm tonight, so there is still lots of time for the numbers to grow.
-
More than 200 Entries
Level: 3 (200/400/400) Entries: 220/220 (323/837) Prizes: $72,600 ($276,210 total) Day 1c is in Level 3 now with the field over 200 entries. Registration is open until the start of Level 9, so there is still lots of time for these numbers to grow
-
101 Entries to Start 1c
Level: 1 (100/200/200) Entries: 101/101 (249/718) Prizes: $33,330 ($236,940 total) The third of four flights for the 4-Flight is now underway with action happening in the Chrome room at Deerfoot Inn & Casino. The game kicked off with 101 entries on the board, but I expect that number to be in the 400 range or more before the end of the night.
Last Jan, this flight got 418 entries, though this year 1a and 1b have been a bit smaller than last year. I still expect to see this flight beat 1b’s number of 378, so 400+ seems like a reasonable bet. Entries remain open in 1c until about 8:30 tonight, with entries closing at the start of Level 9.

Day 1a is Complete with 13 Players Remaining; Lane Leads
Level: 20 (10000/20000/20000) Entries: 13/239 Prizes: $78,870 The first flight to the 4-Flight is now complete, and they played the full 20 levels. When the final hand was played at the end of Level 20, there were still 13 stacks in the game.
Regina’s Deven Lane is the leader from the opening flight with 785k and fellow Saskatchewanite Ryan Smith is second, about 100k behind Lane. Cory Hauser, Kali Shuali, and Josh Myers round out the top five. See below for the full stacks from 1a.

17 Remain in Day 1a
Level: 18 (6000/12000/12000) Entries: 17/239 Prizes: $78,870 They are down to 17 players left in Day 1a of the 4-Flight now, just five off the early end to the night. There are a bit more than 5 minutes left in Level 18 with two more levels to play after this one so it looks like the bags will likely come out early.
Below is a look at the cashing players so far, and while I don’t have all the names for remaining players, Ryan Smith, Colin Burton, Tyler Panas, Deven Lane, Shane Brotherwood, Marc-Andre Kudjick-Paquin, Kali Shuali, and Seamus McGearty are among the players still alive in this one.

Jordan Banfield Wins First Ring in Black Chip Bounty
Level: 30 (100000/200000/200000) Entries: 1/363 Prizes: $119,790 ($83,490 prizes, $36,300 bounties) It’s been a long time coming for Jordan Banfield but he won his first Circuit ring tonight. He was heads up for a ring in the PKO game last August, but he had to give that ring to Antoine Saddleback (who won the Big 30 Stack yesterday for his second ring). This time, he was able to hold on for the win against runner-up Daniel Bourdages and picked up 9 bounties along the way.
Banfield has about $75k in lifetime earnings, and after the exchange, this should push him to a bit more than $85k for live poker earnings, but most of his volume is online. Banfield is a streamer with WPT Global and is usually found grinding the online streets on Twitch.

Daniel Bourdages Out in 2nd Place for $11,308
Level: 30 (100000/200000/200000) Entries: 1/363 Prizes: $119,790 ($83,490 prizes, $36,300 bounties) Daniel Bourdages The big hand happened with Jordan Banfield on ace-queen against king-ten for Daniel Bourdages. It was all in before the flop and while Banfield flopped his ace, Bourdages flopped a diamond draw but then bricked the turn and river to send a huge double to Banfield.
That left Bourdages on just 200k which he doubled once by flopping a flush against a flopped pair for Banfield. That gave him 400k, or two big blinds, which went in the next hand when Banfield raised to 400k and Bourdages called. Banfield had queens against six-four and the queens held for the win.

Evened Up
Level: 29 (100000/150000/150000) Entries: 2/363 Prizes: $119,790 ($83,490 prizes, $36,300 bounties) Jordan Banfield had about a 5:2 lead, but things just evened up after Daniel Bourdages won a race for a double. He was on pocket tens against king-jack for Banfield, and while Banfield flopped a gutshot, he bricked the rest of the board for the underpaid to hold. Bourdages was in for 1.825 million, so they are both now playing about 3.5 million each.
