Typer Panas Triumphs in Event #4: C$400 4-Flight NLH
As the name suggests, the C$400 buy-in ring event started with four starting flights that attracted an incredible 1,565 entries and generated a massive C$516,450 prize pool. On Sunday, the final 81 players returned to battle for the ring, with over C$70,000 reserved for the winner.
Tyler Panas arrived at the final table as one of the short stacks but survived multiple close calls. A pivotal moment came when his pocket nines held up against Evan Casey’s ace-queen, catapulting him into the chip lead heading into the heads-up.
The battle didn’t last for long as Eyal Pevzner opened with a min-raise, and Panas shoved with ace-king. Pevzner called with queen-jack and caught a queen on the flop, but Panas paired his ace to maintain the lead. The turn and river were blanks, and Panas celebrated his first WSOP Circuit ring and the C$70,054 top prize.
Panas had a great last year, earning over C$130,000 in 2024, including a runner-up finish in the Pure Poker Tour Edmonton Main Event for C$52,400.
