The 2025 WSOP Circuit Calgary Main Event is down to its final day, with just 14 players remaining in the hunt for the coveted Circuit ring and the grand prize of C$312,624. After four starting flights and an intense Day 2, which began with 159 hopefuls, the field has been reduced to only the strongest contenders, all chasing their first Circuit ring.
The action resumes Monday at noon local time, with PokerPro bringing you all the excitement live from the Deerfoot Inn & Casino. Follow every hand and key moment through our live blog, expertly covered by reporter Lyle Bateman.
Leading the charge is Vancouver’s Ashkan Razavi, who has amassed an impressive stack of 8,575,000. Razavi is no stranger to success in Calgary Circuit Main Events as he made two deep runs last year already with 19th place in January and then came even closer to the ring in August with a fourth-place finish for C$70,505. Razavi was eliminated by the eventual champion Alex Liu, who won’t be repeating his victory this time, as he, interestingly, exited as the final day bubble boy in 15th place. Despite several deep runs and also owning a WSOP bracelet from 2021, a Circuit ring has eluded him so far. Is the third time the charm?
Razavi’s closest competitors include Scott Johnson (6,680,000) and Rus King (6,160,000), the only other players with more than 6 million chips. The field of 1,371 entries smashed expectations, generating a prize pool of C$2,077,065, far surpassing the 828 entries from last August’s event.
