The 2024 WPT World Championship, boasting a $10,400 buy-in, will heat up on Tuesday as it moves into Day 2 at the luxurious Wynn Las Vegas. Despite no guarantee on the event this year, players responded enthusiastically, with 2,392 entries creating a massive $23,441,600 prize pool.
This included 960 entries on Monday’s final opening flight on Day 1c, where 351 players found a bag, bringing the total Day 2 field up to 821 survivors. Anže Šmajd emerged as the only chip millionaire from the flight after parlaying his 100,000 opening stack into 1,016,000 in chips to end the night. However, this puts him in fifth place with Day 1a chip leader Phillip Lee starting Day 2 with the overall chip lead with 1,102,000 in chips.
The action will resume for Day 2 on Tuesday at noon with blinds at 3,000/6,000 along with a big blind ante of 6,000. Players will bag chips after five 90-minute blind levels of play, putting the end time at around 8:45 p.m. Those advancing will need to play for four more days until their chance at glory and the massive top prize of $3,138,900, which includes a seat to the 2025 WPT World Championship valued at $10,400.
It is also expected that the money bubble will be reached on Day 2 with the top 299 players earning at least a $19,600 min-cash for nearly double their buy-in.
