Steps to Getting Your ETA
Check if You Need an ETA to Begin With
Not everyone does. Some travelers are already cleared for entry without needing to apply, so the first thing to do is double-check your status. If you do need one, the application will cost £16, and yes, everyone in your group needs one—including babies and kids.
Download the UK ETA App
Once you know you need it, the easiest way to apply is through the UK ETA app. You’ll use it to scan your passport, link it to your phone, and take a quick selfie in front of a white background to confirm your identity. Once everything’s verified and you’ve paid the fee, you’re all set to wait for approval.
Timelines can vary, but most approvals come through within 3 working days. Mine came through in about 30 minutes using a Canadian passport. Fellow poker.pro reporter Christoffer Karlen got his ETA on a Swedish passport in around 5 hours. The sooner you apply, the better. Once approved, the ETA is good for two years and gets linked directly to your passport—no printing, scanning, or extra steps needed. Just bring your passport and you’re good to go.
