Spring Super Stack Kicks Off April

The action for the second series at Deerfoot Inn & Casino in 2025 is just a week away with the Spring Super Stack on deck. April Fools Day marks the start of 13 days of poker with Apr 1 as a satellite day and the series proper beginning on Apr 2 with the Seniors game at 11 am.

It’s a full schedule of 17 events over the 13 days, with added satellite tilts thrown in for good measure. While much of the series schedule will look familiar to regulars at Deerfoot series, there are a few notable new additions to the schedule as well.

The action kicks off with 2 satellite games on April 1, at 2 pm and 7 pm. These games offer packages with $T equivalent for entry to the three multi-day events of the series, Event 3, 10, & 14.

The main series kicks off on Apr 2 with two events, while the first of three flights of the $340 Megastack runs on Thursday, Apr 3. See below for a look at some of the highlights from the upcoming 2025 Spring Super Stack.

Calgary is HORSE Country

Among the highlights of the 2025 Calgary poker season is the introduction of full mixed-game action with a HORSE event. The inaugural HORSE game happened in January at the first WSOP-C series of 2025, and that was the first full running of the event in Alberta.

That opening event was taken down by Eastern Canadian KKPoker Player Rep Chris “Pokin StaR” Alcindor over more than 100 entries in the game. This time around, the buy-in has been slashed in half to $400, potentially opening the game to many more bankroll sizes. Look for HORSE action on Apr 7.

Double Board Bomb Pots Make Tournament Debut

2025 is a year of firsts at Deerfoot Inn & Casino on the poker felt. January saw the first HORSE tournament on Alberta soil, and the April Super Stack will feature a PLO Double Board Bomb Pot tournament. The action-heavy game is usually played in a cash poker format, and this is the first time I’ve ever seen it played in the MTT format.

The innovative MTT will run early in the series on Apr 3 at 4 pm as that day’s side event alongside the opening flight of Event #3. The $450 game plays 25-minute blinds with a 25k start stack.

Three Flights to the Deepstack

As is typical for a Super Stack event, there are three multi-day events with varying buy-in levels. The second and third games of the series have the traditional two starting flights, but the opening $340 game has an additional third flight to the bags on Sunday.

Day 1a for the Deepstack goes on Apr 3, with 1b & c running on the 4th and 5th. The Megastack ($560, Apr 8-10) and the Superstack Main ($1,500, Apr 11-13) round out the multi-day events with two flights each to the final day of play.

Those highlight events are rounded out with a series that will feel like old home week for many Deerfoot regulars. There is a traditional mix of four-card and two-card action with both bounty and regular games in each format. Notable omissions on this schedule include no ladies, mystery bounty, or the Flip & Go games.

Cheap Seats to the Game Live and on KKPoker

The opening day of the series is devoted to two live satellite games where players can book their seats in all three multi-day events for just $280. The two games, running at 2 and 7 pm, are Landmark Satellites offering a 1 in 9.4 chance at $2,400 in MTT buy-ins.

There are a couple of other live chances to book cheap seats throughout the series. Apr 7 features a $280 Landmark Sattelite to E10 & 14 (1 in 8 chance at $2,060 in $T) while the final satellite shot to the Main Event runs on Apr 10 at 6 pm for $180 (1 in 9.4).

The other option for players looking to book cheap seats at Deerfoot is KKPoker. With a huge push in its Canadian presence over the past couple of years, the operator has been going all-in on satellites to local live events. The Spring Super Stack is no different, with as many as 10 satellites to the Main event planned, as well as qualifiers for $340, $450, and $560 events.

We are barely a week away from the opening hands of the 2025 Spring Super Stack and Poker.Pro will be on the floor with exclusive coverage from start to end. Look for the live coverage upcoming under the Live Reporting tab on the main page.
