David Ko Wins Event #11: $2,000 High Roller

After just under 8 hours of play, David Ko has emerged victorious to take down Event #11: $2,000 High Roller over the 41-player field. Ko is no stranger to the champions club as he has prior WSOP rings, a WPT Championship, and even an EPT Trophy. He bested Joseph Roberts in heads-up play. after heading to it as the dominant stack and was able to finish the job. For his efforts he received $28,000 and a new PPT trophy to add to his collection. Ko had a friend cheering him on and took a celebratory photo. This isn’t the first time as the pair took a similar photo when he won a trophy in last year’s series.

3 Mal Hagan$11,110
4 Keith Graham$7,000
5 Michael Bernstein$4,500

Ko entered the day as the second largest stack with 208,100. Early in the day, Roberts found quads and got paid to chip up to 88,000. Ko eliminated Lam with a two outer on the river to chip up to 174,000 as his day started off slow. Ko made a movie against chip leader Garry Sandhu to take a pot and close the gap at 350,000. Sandhu still led the field with 400,000. Roberts jammed all in with a combo draw and was called by Ko. A brick completed the board for him to chip up to 514,500 with 12 remaining. Mal Hagan found doubles, too, with sixes spiking a two outer to rise through the ranks.

His run good continued as he eliminated Michael Bernstein in 5th Place as his Queens held against Bernstein’s Jacks. Keith Graham was the next to fall shoving Ace-Jack into Ko’s Ace-Queen. After the hand, Ko sat with 70 percent of the chips in play at 1,440,000. Roberts picked up Aces, Jacks, Kings, and Aces in the span of five hands to narrow the gap. He sat with 780,000 compared to Hagan’s 200,000. The short stacked Hagan soon hit the rail after losing a flip with Nines to Ko’s ace-queen. Ko continued his aggressive strategy to dwindle down Roberts to a short stack. Finally, Roberts fell after he got it all in against Ko’s two pair with top pair. Ko held to take the trophy and add to his collection.

Colten Yamagishi and Glenn Tarasoff Chop the PLO Bounty

One play was heads-up Colten Yamagishi and Glenn Tarasoff made an ICM chop after overcoming the 111-player field. The larger stacked Tarasoff took the higher payout of $7,577, while Yamagishi took the trophy and $7,038. Stefan Maloney was eliminated in third place just before and play was stagnant with 14 players. When one bust occurred the pace changed to rapid as busts were seen left and right. The play was over decidedly quickly after that as the turbo structure accelerated the pace.
