Tuesday’s action in the opening edition of the 2025 Pure Poker Tour (PPT) included two games. The day kicked off with the opening day of the 6-Max game with expectations to play down to the money spots and then bag for Day 2 on Wednesday. The side game saw players sit down for a Turbo Bounty.
Gerald Chung Wins Turbo Bounty after Marathon Heads Up
Both players who ended up fighting for the trophy at the end of the Turbo Bounty game had to work on Wednesday morning. That didn’t stop them from battling it out until the wee hours of the morning to finally decide the trophy.
The game kicked off at 7 PM and the low buy-in seemed to attract a lot of attention. By the time entries closed just after 10 PM, there were 117 total entries on the board for combined prizes of $20,007 with $5,850 of that reserved for bounties.
They hit the business end of the game about 1 AM, but considering the Turbo part of the game, it still took quite a while to close it out. When they hit the money, it was Callum Lehingrat who had all the chips and a stack of bounty chips to go with them. He maintained the lead for most of the early money play, but then he ran into the wall of variance.

He was still leading when Hideki Takafuji hit the rail in 6th place, but then he ran into three coolers in short order to end his run in 5th. The downfall started when eventual winner Gerald Chung got there with ace-jack over Lehingrat’s ace-queen. He then lost ace-king to ace-three on a straight before the final blow came when he shoved an ace and his now short stack into pocket aces.
Bowen Leung, who came to the final table second in chips behind Lehingrat was the next to fall in 4th place followed by Tom T in 3rd. That left Chung heads up with Clint Galloway.
As mentioned off the top, both players said they had to work in the morning, but kept battling despite the late hour. Chung is a local teacher and he had a computer science class to teach at 10 AM, while Galloway was facing a presentation for his work at 9 AM..
Even still, they played three levels of heads-up before it was finally decided at close to 5 AM. Galloway was the leader coming into heads up, but Chung was hard to kill. He was almost out when it was still three-handed, but grabbed a double when he flopped the nuts against trips for Galloway.
Tom T then hit the rail for third place, sending his chips to Chung but he still needed to find a fours into threes cooler to even the stacks out. He then found a double to the lead with the stacks getting shorter when his ace held against king-three for Galloway.
In the final hand, both players flopped a six with Chung on the better kicker. They both turned trip sixes with Chung still ahead, then Chung found a nine on the river for the boat to put a bow on it.
This was Chung’s sixth live win and his fourth PPT trophy, though all his previous wins on the PPT were in Seniors games, so this is his first open trophy on the tour.

Mr. High Roller Leads 6-Max

Daniel Lefebvre is known on the PPT as Mr. High Roller as he’s bagged multiple PPT High Roller titles in the last few years, but he can play the lower-priced games as well. He was the chip leader at the end of the opening day of play in the 6-Max, bagging up almost 500k for money play on Day 2.
That was more than 50k ahead of Murray Duval with Ron Lauzon playing the 3rd stack to start Day 2. Lefebvre managed to amass the most chips in a field of 89 entries which coincidentally was exactly the field prediction by organizers before the event. That put $59,185 into the prize pool for 9 players to win a share of.
