Poker Professional Craig Bergeron Arrested Under Murder Suspicion

Craig Bergeron, a 35-year-old online poker player from Michigan, US, had been arrested under suspicion of the murder of Tommy Ireland. Bergeron allegedly used a rifle and shot the victim before he fled the scene in a white SUV on Monday.

The victim died at the scene, and Bergeron was arrested the next day and charged with first-degree murder, firearm use, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Bergeron is suspected of committing another shooting in Detroit County after killing Tommy Ireland.

Police still can’t determine what happened with Bergeron and Ireland and why Bergeron was doing what he was 50 miles away from his residence in Saline, Michigan.

“We’re looking for answers, and we’re looking for justice. We don’t know anything right now,” Ireland’s sister, Ashley Ireland, told CBS News Detroit.

Bergeron’s Poker Career

Bergeron was known in online circles by his nickname “hu4rollz” and was a high-level online player in the early days of the Poker boom. He has made $1,330,964 in total live MTT earnings, with his most significant cash of $312,853 coming from his fourth-place finish in €5,300 No Limit Hold’em—EPT Main Event in 2010.

In 2011, Bergeron won the World Series of Poker Circuit $560 No Limit Hold’em event for $30,658 and his only WSOPC ring.

His last live MTT cash came in 2019 when he finished 25th in the $1,100 No Limit Hold’em – MSPT Main Event.
