Wednesday was full of excitement on the fifth day of the 2025 OlyBet Showdown Riga Voodoo Spring Edition at the iconic Olympic Casino Voodoo.
The crown jewel of the festival kicked off with Day 1a, attracting 32 entries to add more than €30,000 to the prize pool. Estonia’s Ott Jaakson experienced an opening day to remember as he ten-folded his 30,000 starting stack into a massive pile of 302,300 to end the day with an overwhelming chip lead over the 12 players that survived the day and nearly double that of his nearest competitor in Ukraine’s Yevhen Pavlenko with 165,000 in chips.
The three-day €555 Championship witnessed the field grow to 167 entries to create a €79,325 prize pool by the time late registration ended after the first three blind levels on Wednesday’s Day 2. France’s Michel Leibgorin led the way to start Day 2, and the same will be valid for the final table with a massive stack of 184 big blinds. The final nine players already locked up €2,120 and will be battling on Thursday at Noon for a tasty €18,465 top prize and, of course, the coveted trophy.
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s Andrii Malynovskyi earned the sole trophy of the day after defeating a lively field of 63 entries, including Kings of Tallinn regular Jari Hurri from Finland, heads-up in the one-day €250 PLO4/PLO5 Progressive Bounty for his largest cash to date at The Hendon Mob of €1,700 along with a boatload of bounties.

Andrii Malynovskyi Wins €250 PLO4/PLO5 Progressive Bounty
The one-day €250 PLO4/PLO5 Progressive Bounty was full of action with 63 entries €13,167 in prizes including €6,300 reserved for progressive bounties. This author entered the mix from the start and was freerolling by the time late registration concluded via eliminations. However, near the final table, this author coughed up more than half his stack to Finland’s Jari Hurri, with the rest going over to Norway’s Vidar Assersen.
The final table bubble eventually broke, and the table agreed to pay out to an extra eighth spot, which worked out well for Latvia’s Kārlis Pops, who earned €140 plus bounties. Latvians were soon out of contention as Kaspars Poišs (fifth – €600 + bounties), 2025 Olybet Showdown Voodoo Spring Edition €150 PLO4/PLO5 champion Kaspars Renga (sixth – €450), and Rami Amuri (seventh – €330) were all eliminated. Assersen ran out of gas just before the podium in fourth place for €800 plus bounties leaving a pair of Finns and a player from Ukraine competing for the title.

Finland’s Mika Paasonen exited in third place for €1,147 plus bounties, with Andrii Malynovskyi and Hurri guaranteed the top €1,700 top prize while battling for the trophy and the big bounty at the end.
“I just want my Latvian flag, Jason,” Hurri shared just after late registration closed. “This is the only country I’ve played poker in the past where I don’t have a cash.”
Hurri got his wish about a flag but the icing on the cake that was within reach with a trophy was denied by Malynovskyi who deserves a massive congratulations on earning his first international poker trophy according to The Hendon Mob.
