Many new players were welcomed on Monday in the Latvian capital of Riga at the 2025 OlyBet Showdown Riga Voodoo Spring Edition at the iconic Olympic Voodoo Casino.
Some of those new players, including England’s Lisa Mcnamara, who traveled to Riga with Redtooth’s Glenn Brown, entered the €80 satellite to the €555 Championship that surpassed its five ticket guarantee, with 53 entries allowing for six tickets and some money left over for the seventh place finisher. While Brown came up empty-handed despite multiple attempts at securing a seat, Mcnamara was enjoying herself with a massive chip lead at the final table bullying around the players before securing her seat. Mcnamara, who enjoys the pub poker experience and the poker community as a whole, will now enjoy an experience playing in the three-day €555 Championship with Day 1b kicking off on Tuesday.
The satellite was the last event of the evening with three other events taking place including Day 1a of the inaugural €555 Championship held on Latvian soil, another €80 satellite to the €555 Championship, and the one-day €250 NLH/PLO4/PLO5. Sweden’s Arasch Mirzai parlayed his opening stack of 30,000 into 181,600 to bag the overnight chip lead over the 21 survivors with 58 entries already adding €26,600 to the prize pool with much more to come on Tuesday’s Day 1b and on Wednesday’s Day 2 during the first three 40-minute blind levels.
Four other players managed to bag a six-figure stack including the 2025 OlyBet Showdown Riga Voodoo Spring Edition €250 NLH Opening Event champion Raivis Pučurs (134,400), 2024 WSOP Circuit Tallinn Ring winner Ēriks Krūmiņš (115,500), Estonia’s Ott Jaakson (105,500), and Latvia’s Roberts Krīgers (105,100).
Meanwhile, Latvia’s Vladislavs Petrovs was the star of the day after earning the only trophy on Monday after defeating Brazil’s Manoel Assuncao Ferreira Gomes Filho to win the €250 NLH/PLO4/PLO5 Round of Each for €2,755.

Vladislavs Petrovs Wins Event #9: €250 NLH/PLO4/PLO5
While players were busy grinding away on Day 1a of the €555 Championship and a satellite for the same event, 35 other entries battled it out for a trophy in the one-day Event #9: €250 NLH/PLO4/PLO5 on Tuesday with €7,315 on the line for the top five players.
Five different countries were represented on the payout tables after Latvia’s Juris Bonders bubbled the event in sixth place. Finland’s Vesa Heikkinen (fourth – €810) and Sweden’s Michael Doverklint (fifth – €540) were the first two players out on the rail in the money guaranteeing the final three players a four-figure prize.
Norway’s Terje Bremseth was the next to go in third place for €1,310. But perhaps this was meant to be as Bremseth now took third place in the only two tournaments he has played after finishing in the same spot in the €350 NLH Progressive Bounty on Sunday for €2,794 plus bounties.
Brazil’s Manoel Assuncao Ferreira Gomes Filho was aiming to become just the second player this festival outside of Latvia to win a trophy but had to settle for the €1,900 runner-up prize. Instead, Latvia’s Vladislav Petrovs defeated Filho to earn the trophy and the €2,755 top prize.
