Nicholas Lee Wins PLO Bomb Pot, Scott Johnson Leads Deepstack Day 1A at 2025 Spring Super Stack

After a strong opening day at the 2025 Spring Super Stack, Day 2 delivered even more action with two events running at Deerfoot Inn & Casino. While the $340 Deepstack NLH got underway with the first of its three starting flights, it was the $450 PLO Double Board Bomb Pot that crowned the sole winner of the day.

The PLO Double Board Bomb Pot, usually a cash game variant, made its tournament debut at Deerfoot with 76 entries. In the end, Nicholas Lee outlasted a tough lineup of PLO crushers to secure the trophy and C$8,664. This win also pushed Lee’s lifetime tournament earnings past the $500,000 mark, according to The Hendon Mob.

Lee came into the final stages with a big stack, along with Skyler Yorke, while Dylan Payne and JJ Johnstone were the shorter stacks. Payne busted in fourth for C$3,032, but Johnstone managed to run it up and made it to heads-up after Yorke (C$4,621) fell in third to Lee.

Lee started the heads-up play with a commanding lead, however Johstone turned things around after a couple of big hands, including repping a flush in one, and hitting a rivered flush in the other.

But PLO is a swingy beast, and the final hand saw Lee flop a wheel against Johnstone’s turned trip aces. The river ran out clean, and Lee locked up his second title of the year, adding to the WSOP Circuit ring he won in January, while Johnstone collected C$6,642 for his runner-up finish.
