Gerald Chung Runs Hot Pulling Bounties

Sherwood Park local Gerald Chung had himself a day in the NLH Mystery Bounty. While his 27th-place finish in the 710-player field earned him a solid €700 cash, that wasn’t where the real payday came from. Chung hit big when he pulled the second-largest bounty of the event—a cool €20,000. All told, he walked away with €21,700, turning a deep run into a memorable score.

Outside of that highlight, it was a quiet day for most Western Canadians, with many falling just shy of the money. The Mystery Bounty itself combined for a €173,062.50 prize pool with Alexander Norden finishing first and finding the largest bounty for a €69,400 score.

The Ladies are in the Spotlight

Michelle Skinner Chip Leads the Ladies Event (Credit to Brian Oh Eideain)

Action in the Ladies Event kicked off yesterday, and it didn’t take long for the chips to start flying. Early on, Caitlin Comeskey, Sin Melin, and Marle Spragg joined the fray, adding some extra firepower to the field. Friend of the site Lorena Antunes made a stand with ace-queen, calling off an all-in and sending her opponent packing after pairing her ace. Unfortunately, she fell just short of the money as only 23 players would cash.

The 163-player field smashed last year’s numbers by 17 entries. The combined field created a prize pool of €34,168.06. A top prize of €8,100 was on the line, with the min-cash set at €1,171. Mary Brown was the unfortunate bubble, running pocket nines into aces to end her run.

With that, the remaining 23 players locked up a payday, and play didn’t slow down from there. Eliminations came fast and furious as the field thinned. Lydia Cugudda might’ve had a little extra help—after hearing potatoes were lucky, she kept a french fry at her side and dubbed it her “lucky chip.” Whether it was the fry or the run-good, it worked: she and seven others advanced to the final day.
