Another day is in the books at the Irish Open 2025, and the vibes have been off the charts. The field has been a fun mix of locals and international grinders, and one of the biggest surprises so far has been the sheer number of Canadians showing up and showing out. As Mad Harper put it, “For Canadians, the Irish Open is all about the ‘craic’ – getting together with old friends, making new ones, listening to music, joining in the fun and games, and, of course, playing poker.”
That quote might be a few years old, but the energy still holds up. Let’s take a quick look at what’s gone down today and shine a light on a few Canadian crushers making their mark. Yesterday, we covered David Ko snapping off his first Irish Open trophy—big things happening.

Canadians Clean Up The Competition
Taran Parmar Finds a Podium Finish

Taran Parmar is no stranger to success. He just came off a Main Event win at The Grand Poker Series for $36,400 and decided to bring the heat to Dublin. He jumped into the €1,150 NLH 8-Max and made it count, battling through a 441-player field and locking up a chop at the final table. For his run, Parmar banked a tidy €55,274 from the €451,474 prize pool.

Dreams Come True with the Inception of the Deaf Championship
Darren Chow played a big role in making the DEAF Championship a reality. It all started back in January 2024, when he met JP McCann at the WSOP International Circuit stop in Calgary.
“I met JP through a good friend called Raph,” Chow explained. “JP and I shook hands, had a quick chat, and that’s when he floated the idea of a Deaf Poker Tournament.”
Flash forward a year, and now we’ve got the first-ever Irish Open Deaf Poker Championship in the books. Switzerland’s Starny Hoang took it down for €1,825, with fellow countryman Ueli Munoz finishing runner-up for €1,180. Chow himself rounded out the top three with a €780 score—fitting, considering he helped bring the event to life.
