One of the greatest online poker players of all time Simon Eric “C. Darwin” Mattsson takes down the 2022 GGPoker WSOP Online Main Event and walks away with $2,793,574 money prize and his first WSOP bracelet.

4,984 entries to the $5,000 Online Main Event created $23,674,000 prize pool, smashing it’s guarantee. After nine Day 1 flights and Day 2 on Monday, the final nine met yesterday to fight for the coveted WSOP bracelet and of course millions of dollars.

Simon “C. Darwin” Mattsson entered the final table as a chip leader with 108 big blinds, trailed by another online superstars Samuel “€urop€an” Vousden with 87bb and Natural8’s player Kannapong “Sakooh” Thanarattrakul with 65bb. Everyone else at the table had 30 blinds or less.

What we witnessed was a total domination from Mattsson. He briefly lost the chip lead at the start to Voudsen but regained it rather quickly and never looked back afterwards.

€urop€an was eliminated in 4th place by Thanarattrakul with 66 vs AJs, who flopped him almost dead with three flush cards on the board. Next one to go was Feng Zhao. Mattsson first severely crippled him in a hand with a big overbet on the river with full house and Zhao snap called him with a top pair. Next hand was just a formality.

Heads-up for the WSOP Bracelet was between C. Darwin and Sakooh, who was 1:2 dog at the start of a match. And with all respect to Kannapong, it never felt like Swede is going to lose this one as he was also running good in important spot.

In the last hand of the evening, we saw Simon flopping open ended straight draw with 56s and Thailands’s Kannapong top pair with JTs. Turn completed a straight for Darwin and gave Sakooh bigger flush draw. River paired the board but that didn’t stop him from pushing all-in, which was snapped called by Mattsson who celebrated another big win, which cemented his status as one of the greatest online poker players of all time, beasting the scene for a decade.

Congrats!
