Michel Karim made it 500,000 to go on the button and called when big blind Ahmet Canatan three-bet to 1,400,000. Canatan continued for 600,000 on the Q♠10♦4♠ flop and saw his adversary make a quick call.
The 5♣ turn appeared to slow Canatan down as he checked to Karim, after which the latter bet 900,000. Canatan raised to 2,200,000, however, and Karim promptly moved all in for 5,800,000.
Canatan beat Karim to the pot with a call, revealing the cards.
Michel Karim: 10♣9♦
Ahmet Canatan: Q♥Q♣
The tournament had been decided as Karim’s pair of tens were drawing dead against the top set of Canatan. The K♦ river was dealt to complete the show as the former opponents shook hands.
Karim took home €41,650 for his runner-up performance, his best-ever live score.
