  • Hand for Hand

    Level:15 (2500/5000/5000)
    Entries:18/137
    Prizes:$128,849

They are one elimination away from the end of Day 1a now with 18 players left in the game. There is one hand remaining in Level 15 before they take a break so it looks likely they’ll play a few hands in Level 16 after the break before it all ends for today.

  • 2 Off the End of 1a

    Level:15 (2500/5000/5000)
    Entries:19/137
    Prizes:$128,849

There are about 20 minutes to play in Level 15 with the field now at 19 players left. They’ll break down to two tables after the next elimination and go hand-for-hand until the end of the night. OIt’s still looking like late in Level 15 or earl Level 16 for the bags to come out.

  • Four off the Bags

    Level:15 (2500/5000/5000)
    Entries:21/137
    Prizes:$128,849

They are down to 21 left in 1a now with Level 15 just beginning. Based on the current pace, it looks likely the bags will come out sometime in Level 15 or early Level 16.

  • Vijayaratnam leads with 24 Left

    Level:14 (2000/4000/4000)
    Entries:24/137
    Prizes:$128,849

They are down to 24 left now in Day 1a with just under 20 minutes to play in Level 14. That puts them 7 off the bags with Sen Vijayaratnam leading the way with more than 500k while Jeff Forester still looks to be second with just over 400k.

  • 10 Off the Bags with Three Tables Left

    Level:13 (3000/6000/6000)
    Entries:27/137
    Prizes:$128,849

They are down to the final three tables with 27 players remaining in Day 1a. That leaves them just 10 players off the end of the day at 17 remaining.

  • A Few Big Stacks

    Level:13 (1500/3000/3000)
    Entries:32/137
    Prizes:$128,849

They are down to 32 players left to start Levey 13 and there are three stacks out there that look to be over 300k. Sen Vijayaratnam looks to be the big one with about 380k in front of him while Jeff Forester has about 325k and Geordi Lobe has just over 300k.

  • Down to 4 Tables

    Level:12 (1500/2500/2500)
    Entries:36/137
    Prizes:$128,849

There are about 30 minutes to play in Level 12 with a break scheduled following this level. The field is now down to 36 players left with the bags coming out at 17 players.

  • Five Tables Left

    Level:11 (1000/2000/2000)
    Entries:44/137
    Prizes:$128,849

They are down to 44 players left in Day 1a with about 15 minutes to play in Level 11. There will be another break following Level 12 and I’ll have a look around then for some big stacks. They’ll play tonight until there are 17 left.

  • Down to 54 Remaining

    Level:11 (1000/2000/2000)
    Entries:54/137
    Prizes:$128,849

They are down to 54 players left in 1a of the Main as Level 11 begins. They’ll be playing down to either 17 or 18 later tonight with all bagging players in the money.

  • 137 Entries for 1a

    Level:10 (1000/1500/1500)
    Entries:57/137
    Prizes:$128,849

Entries are now closed for the opening flight of the Main Event, and it was a pretty decent showing with 137 entries on the board when it all closed down. That puts the prizes so far just shy of $129k with the full Day 1b yet to play.

There is a satellite for tomorrow’s flight kicking off in the Pearl Room right now, so players who bust late, or players just looking for a cheap shot at the Main, have a chance to get in for a fraction of the cost.

  • Some Big Dinner Stacks

    Level:9 (600/1200/1200)
    Entries:58/135
    Prizes:$126,968

After a quick wander around during the dinner break, it looks like Skyler York is the big stack right now with 212k in front of him. Brett Worton is pretty close behind with 201k while John Huynh looks to be 3rd with 172k right now.

  • 135 Entries for Dinner

    Level:9 (600/1200/1200)
    Entries:58/135
    Prizes:$126,968

Dinner has just begun which means there are about 40 minutes left to enter today’s first flight. The current prizes from 1a are at nearly $127k and it’s likely there will be a few more entries before they sit down for Level 10. They need another 4 entries over the dinner break to crack $130k for today’s prize pool.

  • Final Level of Entry

    Level:9 (600/1200/1200)
    Entries:66/129
    Prizes:$121,325

The Day 1a prizes are now over $120k with 129 entries on the board. There are about 30 minutes to play in Level 9 which puts the last chance to buy into today’s flight in about 1 hour and 15 minutes.

  • Nearing 120 Entries

    Level:8 (500/1000/1000)
    Entries:67/118
    Prizes:$110,979

The prizes are now over $110k with 118 entries on the board to start Level 8. That leaves just over 2 hours in the registration period for today’s flight so another ~10 entries or so seems very reasonable before it finishes making today’s prize pool likely in the range of $120k or more.

  • More than $100k in Prizes

    Level:7 (400/800/800)
    Entries:68/110
    Prizes:$103,455

The prizes are now over $100k with 110 entries on the board and $103k in prizes. There are just over 2.5 hours left to get into today’s flight, so a final prize pool approaching $120k for the opening flight is definitely within sight.

  • More than 100 Entries for 1a

    Level:6 (300/600/600)
    Entries:65/104
    Prizes:$97,812

They are three entries away from $100k in prizes with the field already over 100 entries for the opening flight. There are still a bit less than 3 hours left until the entry desk closes at about 7:15 pm, so plenty of time to cap $100k and then some.

  • Nearing 100 Entries for 1a

    Level:5 (300/500/500)
    Entries:63/94
    Prizes:$88,407

The prizes are closing in on $90k here on Day 1a with 94 entries on the board now. Level 5 is nearly complete with 63 players still at the felt. They need another 13 entries to push the 1a prizes over $100k, so that looks like a lock with about 3 hours and 40 minutes left to enter today’s flight.

  • 82 Entries

    Level:4 (200/400/400)
    Entries:63/82
    Prizes:$77,121

It’s a pretty decent turnout so far for the opening flight to the Main Event. The prizes are already over $75k with 82 entries on the board and it looks like a lock at this point to have more than $100k in the kitty before entries close today.

Among the players I spotted on my last tour of the room included Geordi Lobe, Garry Sandhu, Stephen Suaphinais, Eric Wasylenko (who has locked up the PPT Player of the Year race already with a couple of Main Event wins earlier in the year and another side event win this series), Mal Hagan, Dylan Webb, Graham Lupton, Deven Lane, Mike Malm, Ed Zurawell, Rob Limpert, Andy Truong, Haven Taylor, MIke Kim, Kyle Bonazzo, Leonard Siebenga, and WSOP-C Main Event ring winner Cody McKay.

  • 70 Entries on First Break

    Level:4 (200/400/400)
    Entries:61/70
    Prizes:$65,835

The Main Event players are on their first break of 1a with 70 entries on the board and 61 players till at the felt. There are still more than 5 hours left to enter today’s flight, so it’s looking like a reasonably good start for the opening flight to the Main.

I’ve just arrived in the room, but a few of the faces I’ve spotted already are Jerry Tria, Gerald Chung, Ryan Comely, Tony Comely, John Donnelly, Jeff Forester, Taran Parmar, Rob Lothian, DJ Sharma (fresh off his 3rd place in last night’s Turbo game), Ian Alvarado, the winner from last series Michael “Berny” Bernstein, Scott Munro, Colten Yamagishi, Ryan Smith, Brett Worton, Michael Khan, Marc Lavergne, Jimmy Lee, and Thomas Taylor.

  • It’s Main Event Time!

    Event:Event #14: $1,100 Main Event Day 1A ($990 + $110)
    Date:Nov 29, Noon
    Blinds:40 Minutes
    Starting Stack:30k
    Late Entry:9 Levels (~7:15 PM)
Day 1 Ends:12.5% of the field

It’s time for the opening flight to the Main Event. Friday at noon is the first chance to take a shot at landing on Day 2. Players buy in for $1,100 and get 30k to start. Levels on Day 1 are 40 minutes long, but they’ll move up to 60 on Day 2.

Entries are open for 9 levels plus breaks with the desk scheduled to close at about 7:15 pm on Day 1. After that, it will be a race down to 12.5% of the field, however long that takes.

Friday is the first of two Day 1 flights and there is a satellite to Day 1b Friday evening at 7:30 pm so players have plenty of chances to bag a stack for Sunday’s Day 2 and the money.

I’ll likely be late getting to the Pearl Room as Thursday was a late night, but I hope to be on the floor shortly after the first break.
