PPT staff have barely had time to break down the tables from PPT #4 at Pure Casino Yellowhead and it’s almost time for the penultimate series of the 2024 season. Series #5 is across town at Pure Casino Edmonton and is a shortened schedule from the full series with just one week of poker action and 11 events.
The first PPT branded action for Series #5 kicks off at 1 pm Sunday, Oct 13 with a 1 in 10 satellite game for $T equivalent to entry in all open events for the series. Buy-in for the game is $430 ($390 + $40) and players start with 25k in chips for 30-minute levels.
There is more satellite action on Oct 14 with main series action kicking off on Oct 15 with the Seniors First at noon, an open NLH game starting at 4 pm, and a satellite game at 7 pm. That kicks off seven days of PPT action that includes the ever-popular 6-Max and PLO Big Bounty games as well as the two-flight Main Event and the $2k “Series Saver” High Roller to finish it out.

Open NLH Runs Opening Day
Event: Event #2: $230 NLH ($200 + $30) Date: Oct 15, 4 pm Blinds: 20 Minutes Starting Stack: 20,000 Late Entry: 6 Levels (~6:15 pm) The first event of the typical Pure Poker Tour series is for players 50 years of age and older, but opening day doesn’t shut out the rest of the playing community. Starting at 4 pm, an open NLH Turbo will kick off with 20k to start and 20-minute blinds.
This is a one-day game that will finish sometime late Tuesday (or more likely, early Wednesday lol) and players have six levels to get into the game or rebuy. That should put the final entry at about 6:15 pm.
I won’t be watching this one very closely but will try to keep updated on numbers and prizes, and then move over to the endgame of this event if the Seniors finish before it. Bear with me this time as we are trialing a new system on the backend and there’s a small learning curve for me. I think it will be a better experience for the reader, but I’ll be very open to feedback – one of the reasons we developed this is as a result of feedback about things like social media sharing of individual posts, and better ability to view pictures. Let me know what you think!

Seniors First
Event: Event#1: $340 Seniors First ($300 + $40) Date: Oct 15, Noon Blinds: 30 Min Starting Stack: 25,000 Late Entry: 8 Levels (~5 pm) The penultimate series for the 2024 season of the Pure Poker Rour is set to get underway, and as usual, it’s the old folks who kick things off. The Seniors First game is restricted to players 50 or older and is the first official trophy of the series. The younger folks needn’t worry, however — just four hours after the seniors kick off, the open-entry Event #2 gets going.
Cards will be in the air for the Seniors at noon on the 15th, and they have 8 levels of poker to enter or rebuy. That will put the final shot at a seat around 5 pm when the dinner break following Level 8 ends. They’ll start the game with 25k in chips and play 30-minute levels until a winner is decided, likely around 1 am.
This should be my main focus event for the day, so I should be on the job from the first hand to the last. This series we are doing something a bit new with the coverage as it’s all exclusively on PokerPro now. I’m hoping this will not only make mobile navigation of the reporting a little easier (the iframes with the previous system caused some issues for some people) and the new system also allows for sharing of individual posts. I’ll be interested in feedback on how this compares to what we’ve been doing so far this year.
