  • Weston Pring Wins Event #3 for $18,125

    Level:28 (50000/100000/100000)
    Entries:1/120
    Prizes:$68,400
Weston Pring, Winner of event #3

Weston Pring brought a modest stack of less than 200k into Day 2 today, but he managed to run that up to the win about 8.5 hours later. When they got to the final table, he’d chipped up a bit but was still one of the shorter stacks with 270k.

He played a cagey game that kept him alive while other players hit the rail around him. Paul Brar was in command for much of the final table, and when Pring and Brar got heads up, Brar was 2:1 ahead.

Heads up was a bit of a marathon as they started two-way play with about 100 big blinds on the table but didn’t finish it until there were just 30 bigs between them. The lead switched several times as the stacks got shorter, and in the decisive hand, Pring hero-called a big river bet from Brar with second pair and was good.

That hand gave Pring about a 5:1 lead and it ended shortly after that with king-jack for Pring into king-six for Brar. The jack held and Pring took down his seventh live win and second PPT trophy (Pring also won a PPT Bounty event back in 2021). The $18k score will likely add more than $10k to his Hendon Mob earnings which were sitting at $522,632 (USD) coming into this event.

  • Paul Brar Out in 2nd Place for $12,500

    Level:28 (50000/100000/100000)
    Entries:1/120
    Prizes:$68,400
    Paul Brar

It was a spirited heads-up match between Paul Brar and Weston Pring. Brar had about a 2:1 lead to start heads up, but the chips moved around quite a bit. Both players held the lead a few separate times.

They started the two-handed play with 100 big blinds on the table but it took a couple of hours to finally decide it when they got down to about 30 bigs total. Pring hero-called a bluff in the second to last hand for a huge lead, and it ended shortly after with king-six for Brar into king-jack for Pring. The best kicker held and Brar was out in second place.

  • Pring Takes Big One for Lead

    Level:28 (50000/100000/100000)
    Entries:2/120
    Prizes:$68,400

Weston Pring is now in the lead with just shy of 2.5 million to about 550k for Paul Brar. Brar raised to 160k preflop and Pring called to the 5AJ.

He check-called the flop for 120k then check-called 100k on the 10 turn. After Pring checked again on the 3 river, Brar fired 300k sending Pring to the tank. He finally made the call with a jack-nine for second pair and Brar mucked his hand.

Paul Brar limped preflop and Weston Pring checked to see A103 on the flop. Pring check-called for 60k and they both checked the 9 turn.

Pring checked again on the 10 river then hit the tank when Brar bet 140k. He talked through the hand out loud and eventually made the call. “Flush,” said Brar with a smile, “But i need one more card.”

Pring showed K4 for the king-high call and took it down. He’s at a bit of a disadvantage though with about 1.3 million to 1.7 million for Brar.

  • Back to Even

    Level:25 (25000/50000/50000)
    Entries:2/120

They are back to roughly even stacks again after Weston Pring picked up a pot with flopped top pair. He bet 125k preflop and Paul Brar called to the 96K flop.

Brar check-called for 90k on the flop, then led for 140k on the [invalid notations] river and Pring’s King-three of hearts was the winner when Brar mucked.

They are now on a 15-minute break.

  • Back to Brar

    Level:25 (25000/50000/50000)

I picked up the action on the turn with the board reading 7A9J. Weston Pring check-called for 100k to see 9 on the river for a four-club board.

Pring checked again but check-raised to 500k after Paul Brar fired 180k. Brar tanked for a couple of minutes before releasing his hand. That puts Brar on about 1.25 million to 1.75 million for Pring.

  • Even Stacks

    Level:24 (20000/40000/40000)
    Entries:2/120

They are even stacked now with about 1.5 million each. Pring just chipped up a bit with ace hight after Paul Brar raised it preflop to 100k and Pring called. Pring check-called 60k on the 73K flop and they both checked it through the 34 turn and river. Pring showed ace-four and Brar sent his hand to the muck.

  • Pring Over a Million

    Level:23 (15000/30000/30000)
    Entries:2/120
    Prizes:$68,400

It was limped preflop to see 263 on the flop. Paul Brar fired out 30k and Weston Pring made the call. Brar check-called for 60k on the Q turn and again for 80k on the 2 river. Pring showed queen-seven for the turned pair and Brar mucked his hand. That gives Pring 1.15 million to 1.85 million for Brar.

  • Brar With More than 2 Million

    Level:22 (15000/25000/25000
    Entries:2/120
    Prizes:$68,400

The players are on a break following Level 22 with Paul Brar in the lead. He has 2.115 million in play right now versus 885k for Weston Pring. That leaves Pring with just under 30 bigs when they return for Level 23 with blinds at 15k/30k/30k whole Brar is playing about 70 bigs.

  • Josh Wallace Out in 3rd Place for $8,125

    Level:22 (15000/25000/25000)
    Entries:2/120
    Prizes:$68,400
    Josh Wallace

The game is heads up now after Josh Wallace hit the rail in 3rd place. Weston Pring raised the button to 65k then tank-called when Wallace shoved. Pring was on pocket nines while Wallace was looking for an ace with ace-three off.

The board of 7Q872 ran clean for Pring’s pair and he had Wallace slightly out-stacked at that point. The hand left Pring with 1 million to 2 million for the leader Paul Brar.

  • Pring Doubles Again While Brar Hits 2m

    Level:22 (15000/25000/25000)
    Entries:3/120
    Prizes:$68,400

Weston Pring has been the short stack through most of three-way play but he’s managing to stay alive when he has to. He shoved the small blind for 240k and got a call from Josh Wallace in the big.

Pring was in trouble with 75 against QJ for Wallace, but Pring turned a five to take the lead and Wallace couldn’t improve.

The hand left Wallace and Pring nearly even with 490k for Wallace and 450k for Pring while Paul Brar is miles in front with 2 million in front of him now.

  • Pring Doubles to Stay Alive

    Level:22 (15000/25000/25000)
    Entries:3/120
    Prizes:$68,400

Weston Pring shoved the small blind and Josh Wallace called from the big with more. Pring was at risk with the marginal best holding ace-seven off against king-jack of hearts for Wallace. Pring spiked an ace on the flop but Wallace hit a heart draw at the same time. Pring tripped up on the river and the hearts bricked for Wallace to send the double to Pring.

Pring is still the shorty with about 400k while Wallace is on about 950k to 1.65 million for Paul Brar.

  • Stefan Maloney Out in 4th Place for $6,250

    Level:21 (10000/20000/20000)
    Entries:3/120
    Prizes:$68,400
    Stefan Maloney

It was a huge cooler that saw Stefan Maloney’s run come to an end today. He started the day as the chip leader, but it’s been a bit of a rollercoaster for him. In the final hand, he raised his button to 70k, then shoved the smaller stack when Paul Brar reraised the small blind to 200k.

Brar snapped it off with kings against ace-king for Maloney, and there was no help for big slick on the 310105J runout. The hand left Brar with about 1.5 million for the chip lead now.

  • Wallace Back in the Lead

    Level:21 (10000/20000/20000)
    Entries:4/120
    Prizes:$68,400

Weston Pring just chipped up a bit in a blind-on-blind hand against Paul Brar. Brar limp-called the raise from Pring to 80k preflop, but then check-folded to 120k on the 433 flop to put Pring up to about 600k. Brar is on 660k with Stefan Maloney on 670k and Josh Wallace back in the lead with just shy of 900k.

  • Colten Yamagishi Out in 5th Place for $4,815

    Level:21 (10000/20000/20000)
    Entries:4/120
    Prizes:$68,400
    Colten Yamagishi

They are down to four now after Colten Yamagishi hit the rail for 5th place. I missed the action as I was out of the room for a minute, but Yamagishi was joking during the game that he “always gets 6th place in these” so he was hoping to go a little deeper today. He got his wish with the 5th place finish.

  • Wallace Calls it Down

    Level:21 (10000/20000/20000)
    Entries:5/120
    Prizes:$68,400

Wallace hit the tank for a few seconds before calling with ace-nine for top pair while Maloney flashed pocket fives as he mucked his hand to send the pot to Wallace.

    Level:20 (10000/15000/15000)
    Entries:5/120
    Prizes:$68,400

It was blind on blind when Paul Brar limped the small and Weston Pring checked his option from the big. Brar fired 15k again on the J4J flop and Pring made the call to the 6 turn.

Brar checked it to Pring who fired out 20k. Brar raised it up to 65k and after about a minute in the tank, Pring’s cards hit the muck to send the pot to Brar.

  • Maloney to the Lead

    Level:20 (10000/15000/15000)
    Entries:5/120
    Prizes:$68,400

Stefan Maloney just shoved his big blind after a button raise from Colten Yamagishi and a call from small blind Josh Wallace. That shove got them out of the way for Maloney to pick up the dead money preflop.

He now has a bit more than a million in front of him while previous leader Wallace is down to 620k, tied with Weston Pring. Paul Brar is playing about 380k to Colten Yamagishi’s 325k.

Wison called looking for an ace or a heart with A4 against Wallace’s king-queen but the river bricked for Wilson and he ended his run in 7th place.

    Entries:7/120

Bitton called to see 4 on the turn. Wallace shoved and Bitton called with less. Bitton’s top pair with king-queen was well behind the flopped diamonds for Wallace with J9. The river 7 was a brick for Bitton and he was out in 8th place.

Big blind Ben Wilson shoved 66k and after Lee folded, Wallace reshoved with more. Limpert got out of the way and it was a race between nines for Wallace and ace-king for Wilson. The runout of 4Q107J looked to be clean for the pair until Wilson rivered Broadway for the double to stay alive.

  • Bryde Triples as Shorty

    Level:15 (2500/5000/5000)
    Entries:12/82 (17/120 combined)
    Prizes:Day 1b: $46,740, Combined: $68,400

Jeffry Bryde has been nursing a short stack throughout the hand-for-hand. He just shoved his last 11k after Paul Brar raised to 12k and David Johnston reraised to 31k. Brar called to set up a side pot, and the two active players checked through the 24810A until the river when Johnston bet out to force a fold from Brar. That gave Johnston the side pot with king-queen, but Bryde had a ten for the best hand to take the main pot of about 40k.

  • 1 Away from the End of Day 1b

    Level:14 (2000/4000/4000)
    Entries:11/82 (16/120 combined)
    Prizes:Day 1b: $46,740, Combined: $68,400

The action has picked up in the last few minutes with several eliminations all at once. Garry Sandhu, Brady O’Hara, Ben Dhillion, and Chris Symesko all hit the rail recently. I caught the action for O’Hara as his ace-queen couldn’t get there against pocket queens for David Johnston. O’Hara was stacking up pretty good earlier, but then his kings ran into ace-queen for Weston Pring with Pring spiking two queens to double up and leave O’Hara short.

The game is now hand-for-hand to the bags.

  • 5 Off the Bags

    Level:14 (2000/4000/4000)
    Entries:15/82 (20/120 combined)
    Prizes:Day 1b: $46,740, Combined: $68,400

They are down to 15 left in 1b now after Wayne Halabi hit the rail in 16th place tonight. That brings the field to 15 with the end of the night coming with 10 players left.

  • Symesko Stacking Up

    Level:14 (2000/4000/4000)
    Entries:16/82 (21/120 combined)
    Prizes:Day 1b: $46,740, Combined: $68,400

They are down to 16 now after Chris Symesko sent Lehat Musa to the rail. Symesko opened early to 8.5k then called when Musa shoved the hijack for about 37k.

Symesko’s pocket sevens held against ace-five on a board of KQ3K8 to send Musa out in 17th while Symesko stacked up to about 165k.

  • Final Two Tables

    Level:13 (1500/3000/3000)
    Entries:18/82 (23/120 combined)
    Prizes:Day 1b: $46,740, Combined: $68,400

They are down to 18 left now, 8 away from the end of Day 1b. Stefan Maloney still looks to have the big lead and though I don’t have a good handle on all the chip counts, below is a look at the players left alive with Maloney, Ali Razzaq, and Ben Wilson still among the leaders.

  • 19 Left After Break

    Level:13 (1500/3000/3000)
    Entries:19/82 (24/120 combined)
    Prizes:Day 1b: $46,740, Combined: $68,400

The players are back in their seats for Level 13 with 19 players left in the game. That means they are 9 eliminations away from the bags coming out to end the day.

  • More than $14k for the Winner

    Level:13 (1500/3000/3000)
    Entries:20/82 (25/120 combined)
    Prizes:Day 1b: $46,740, Combined: $68,400

They are 10 off the bags with players on the break following Level 12. There are 20 players left in action with 10 bags later tonight, so it looks likely Day 1b will end sometime around the next break following Level 16.

Stefan Maloney looks to be the clear leader right now with almost 400k in front of him while the next biggest stacks I saw were Ali Razzaq at 165.5k and Ben Wilson at 156k.

The prizes are now updated in the backend with the winner on Sunday set to pocket a bit more than $14k. See the Payouts tab for a full look at the Day 2 prizes.

  • 12 Off the Bags

    Level:11 (1000/2000/2000)
    Entries:22/82 (27/120 combined)
    Prizes:Day 1b: $46,740, Combined: $68,400

They are down to 22 remaining in 1b now with 10 bags expected at the end of the night. Play will continue tonight until there are 10 players left no matter how long that takes.

Day 1 ended with about 9 minutes to play in Level 15 and it seems likely this one will go at least that long, but it remains to be seen yey as play is likely to slow as they approach the 1b bubble.

  • Prizes Confirmed at $68,400; 10 Players to Bag Chips

    Level:11 (1000/2000/2000)
    Entries:27/82 (32/120 combined)
    Prizes:Day 1b: $46,740, Combined: $68,400

While I’m still waiting on the individual payouts for Day 2, the total prizes and field are confirmed at $68.400 for 120 total entries. There will only be 10 bags at the end of tonight, not 11 as I previously reported, which will mean 15 players will get a piece of the prizes. The individual payouts should be posted shortly under the Payouts tab.

  • 120 Entries Combined for E3

    Level:9 (600/1200/1200)
    Entries:34/82 (39/120 combined)
    Prizes:Day 1b: $46,740, Combined: $68,400

Entries are now closed for Event #3 with 82 entries for 1b and 120 in total across both starting days. While the prizes aren’t yet posted for confirmation, it looks like there will be $68,400 to play for on Day 2 with 16 players returning for a piece of it.

11 players will find a bag at the end of 1b action tonight with 5 advancing from Day 1a. I’ll confirm all the numbers shortly once the prizes are published.

  • Big Stacks at Dinner

    Level:8 (500/1000/1000)
    Entries:36/82 (41/120 combined)
    Prizes:Day 1b: $46,740, Combined: $68,400

It looks like Ben Wilson is the chip leader on the dinner break with 122k in front of him. Stefan Maloney has pretty much the same stack though, with four more players playing 100k or more. Among the 100k club is Mike Malm who crushed the Alberta Poker Index standings in 2024 and is having a great start to 2025 as well.

  • Dinner Time Gallery

    Level:8 (500/1000/1000)
    Entries:35/81 (40/119 combined)
    Prizes:Day 1b: $46,170, Combined: $67,830

The players are on their dinner break now and the entry desk will close when they sit down for Level 9 in about 40 minutes. The combined prizes are now at more than $67k with 119 entries for both days. It’s likely there will be a couple more entries over dinner, but it looks like 11 players will find a bag at the end of tonight’s action for a total of 16 returning for Day 2 tomorrow. Meanwhile, here’s a look at a few of the players in action here on Day 1b just before the dinner break.

  • Nearing 75 Entries for 1b

    Level:7 (400/800/800)
    Entries:45/74 (50/112 combined)
    Prizes:Day 1b: $42,180, Combined: $63,840

The 1b field is now nearing 75 entries and is now 2 entries away from doubling the 1a numbers. The combined prizes are now at just shy of $64k with about 90 minutes left to enter the final flight for Event #3.

  • Nearly $60k in Prizes

    Level:6 (300/600/600)
    Entries:48/66 (53/104 combined)
    Prizes:Day 1b: $37,620, Combined: $59,280

There are now more than 100 entries on the board for both starting days with the 1b field up to 66 now. That puts more than $37k into the prizes from today for a combined total of $59,280, just a couple of entries shy of $60k.

It looks like a certainty that they’ll be playing for more than $60k but how much more remains to be seen. They need another 19 entries to hit the $70k mark so that seems within reach, though $80k would require nearly 40 more entries today, so that seems a bit out of reach at this point. Likely, the final number will settle in close to $70k in a couple of hours when entries close at about 6 PM.

  • $50k in Prizes with Johnson Leading Early

    Level:5 (300/500/500)
    Entries:40/51 (45/89 combined)
    Prizes:Day 1b: $29,070, Combined: $50,730

The 1b field is over 50 entries now for a combined total of 89 entries across both starting flights. That puts the combined prizes at just shy of $51k and growing.

I had a quick look around at the break and it looks like David Johnson is the early chip leader with 75k in front of him. Ali Razzaq is also stacking up with 67.5k in play while Jerry Tria, who is back in the game after a couple of years away from the tables, has about 50k in front of him going into Level 5.

Entries are still open for about 2 hours and 45 minutes, so it seems likely the numbers could go as high as 70 for today. Among the other players I spotted in today’s action so far are Kim Pham, Kris Steinbach, Mal Hagan, Nohad Teliani, Edmonton’s Paul Brar, Ryan Comely, Tony Comely, and Stefan Maloney.

  • Nearly $50k

    Level:4 (200/400/400)
    Entries:38/48 (43/86 combined)
    Prizes:Day 1b: $27,360, Combined: $49,020

The field is up to 48 entries now as the first break of the day looms. There are still 38 players in 1b and the combined totals are now 86 entries for just over $49k in total prizes. There is a break shortly and I’ll have a look around for some big stacks while they are away from the tables.

  • More than $45k in Prizes

    Level:4 (200/400/400)
    Entries:37/41 (42/79 combined)
    Prizes:Day 1b: $23,370, Combined: $45,030

The prize pool is pushing towards $50k now with 41 entries for 1b as Level 4 begins. That puts the combined field at 79 for total prizes of just over $45k and climbing.

  • 1b Matches 1a in Level 3

    Level:3 (200/300/300)
    Entries:34/38 (39/76 combined)
    Prizes:Day 1b: $21,660, Combined: $43,320

There are about 15 minutes to play in Level 3 and the 1b field has already equaled the final numbers for 1a with 38 entries on the board right now. That puts $21,660 into the prizes from today for a combined total of $43,220 but with more than 3.5 hours of entry still available, those numbers will grow.

Among the players in action early today are Weston Pring, Michael Malm, Curtis Singleton, Nadav Biton, David Johnson, Kyle Bonazzo, Larry Quon, Michael St. Pierre-Porter, Jerry Tria, Jo Teliani, Julius Roque, and Ross Wilson.

  • Day 1b Set with Rob Limpert Leading 1a Stacks

    Event 3:Event #3: $670 NLH Multi-Day Day 1a
    Date:Day 1a: Feb 14, 1 PM
    Day 1b: Feb 15, 1 PM
    Day 2: Feb 16, 1 PM
    Blinds:30/40 Minutes
    Starting Stack:25k
    Late Entry:8 Levels (~6 PM)
Day 1 Ends:Day 1 Ends at 12.5% of the Original Field
    Entries:5/38
    Prizes:$21,660

The first flight for this event was a bit underwhelming with just 38 entries on the board for $21,660 in prizes so far. 5 players bagged chips at the end of the night with Rob Limpert the big leader from the opening flight. Full stacks for Day 1a can be found under the Day 1a tab.

The second flight to Event #3 goes on Saturday at 1 PM and is a redo of Day 1a. Day 1 plays 30-minute levels with 25,000 in chips to start. Players will have eight levels of play to enter the game, which should be the final chance to enter at about 6 PM when the players return from the dinner break following Level 8.

After that, it will be a race down to 12.5% of the starting field before they bag up the qualifying stacks for Sunday’s Day 2. Day 1a finished with about 9 minutes remaining in Level 15, so that’s the latest Day 2 will begin regardless of where 1b ends, though Day 2 may start earlier if 1b plays faster than 1a even though that seems unlikely.

I should be focused on this until they bag, after which I’ll move to Event #5 if it’s still going.

  • Limpert With Big Lead for 1a Stacks

    Level:15 (2500/5000/5000)
    Entries:5/38
    Prizes:$21,660

Rob Limpert has the big stack at the end of Da 1a with 376.5k in front of him while everyone else is in the 100k range. See below for the full stacks, but Day 2 seats won’t be available until tomorrow night.

  • Bag Time

    Level:15 (2500/5000/5000)
    Entries:6/38
    Prizes:$21,660

Day 1a is now over with 9:44 remaining in Level 15 after Tony Comely hit the rail in 6th place. He shoved just under 40k and Trevor Simpson called him off. Comely was on ace-three but ran into queens for Simpson. Comely flopped a three but couldn’t find any more help and hit the rail as the bubble tonight.

Stay tuned for chip counts from the final five.

  • Yamagishi Folds to River Shove

    Level:15 (2500/5000/5000)
    Entries:6/38
    Prizes:$21,660

Colten Yamagishi is down to about 100k now after a big hand against Rob Limpert. I arrived at the table on the river with the board reading JQ837. Yamagishi fired 90k but Limpert shoved a covering stack. Yamagishi tanked by ultimately gave it up. Limpert now has heaps in front of him.

  • Yamagishi Making Moves?

    Level:15 (2500/5000/5000)
    Entries:6/38
    Prizes:$21,660

Rob Limpert opened to 10k under the gun before Colten Yamagishi made it 25k to go from the button. Limpert called to the 510A flop and they both checked to the Q turn.

Limpert fired 15k on the turn only to see Yamagishi bump it up to 50k. Limpert tank-folded before Yamagishi revealed a deuce as he scooped in the pot.

  • Limpert Flops It

    Level:14 (2000/4000/4000)
    Entries:6/38
    Prizes:$21,660

Ryan Comely opened to 10k from the hijack and Rob Limpert called from the cutoff. They both checked the 8K3 flop and Comely led for 11k on the 6 turn.

Limpert called to see 8 on the river and Comely fired 40k. Limpert called quickly and Comely announced “Ace-high” then mucked when Limpert showed ace-king for top-top.

  • Yamagishi Takes it on Turn

    Level:14 (2000/4000/4000)
    Entries:6/38
    Prizes:$21,660

Ryan Cairns opened to 8k under the gun and got calls from Johnny Dalphond on the button, as well as Trevor Simpson and Colten Yamagishi in the blinds.

They all checked the Q47 flop, but when Simpson checked on the 6 turn, Yamagishi fired 24k, enough to push the others out and take it down.

  • End-of-Day Bubble

    Level:14 (2000/4000/4000)
    Entries:6/38
    Prizes:$21,660

Ryan Comely was the player to hit the rail in 7th place tonight, two off the bags. He sent his chips to Colten Yamagishi, who now looks to be playing around 180k, to leave 6 left in the game now with 5 players bagging.

  • Simpson Back in It

    Level:13 (1500/3000/3000)
    Entries:7/38
    Prizes:$21,660

Trevor Simpson was on life support coming back from the break with less than 40k in play. He shoved once and got it through for a chip up to 44k, then got a double through Ryan Comely.

Simpson raised to 13.5k under the gun and Ryan Comely rerasied to 30k from his left. Everyone else got out of the way before Simpson reraised all in and Comely called it off.

It was a classic race between ace-king for Simpson and pocket queens for Comely. The flop was dry for Simpson and he got up to get ready to leave but he spiked a king on the turn to take the lead and held through the river. The double puts Simpson close to 100k and, while he is still among the short stacks on the table, he is now out of the danger zone.

  • Limpert Leads on Break after Brother-on-Brother Action

    Level:13 (1500/3000/3000)
    Entries:7/38
    Prizes:$21,660

The final hand before the break saw the two Comely brothers go at it. Ryan Comely raised the cutoff to 6k and his brother Tony Comely called from the big blind. They both checked the 64Q flop and Tony led for 6k on the 8 turn.

Ryan called to the K river and after a check from Tony, Ryan fired 15k. “You hit the flush after I get top-two, eh?” Tony said as he tossed in his 15k call, sending it down the table close to Ryan. Tony had the read right as Ryan rolled over J7 for the running flush and the win.

That took some wind out of Tony Comely’s sails. He had been close to Rob Limpter with the top stacks, but his brother Ryan is now second behind Limpert while Tony is sitting third right now.

  • Ozog, Tucker Exit to Leave 7 Remaining

    Level:12 (1500/2500/2500)
    Entries:7/38
    Prizes:$21,660

Jerry Ozog was the first player off the final table near the start of Level 12. He was just followed by Jake Tucker after he raised, then shoved over the reraise from Ron Limpert.

Limpert was on aces against the threes for Tucker and the 8494K board didn’t give the treys any help. That puts them two off the bags and just one away from the bubble play.

  • Yamagishi Gets River Value

    Level:12 (1500/2500/2500)
    Entries:9/38
    Prizes:$21,660

I arrived at the table with the board already out reading 43334. Johnny Dalphond checked to Colten Yamagishi who put out a big bet of 17k. Dalphond was in the tank for a bit and eventually called “for a chop” as he said after then hand, but Yamagishi showed pocket sixes for a bigger boat than the one on the board and took down a nice pot.

They’ll go on another break at the end of this level, and I’ll do another round of counts then but it looks like Tony Comely and Rob Limpert are leading the way right now.

  • Comely Takes it on the River

    Level:11 (1000/2000/2000)
    Entries:9/38
    Prizes:$21,660

Ryan Cairns opened the action with a raise to 4,000 from the middle and Johnny Dalphond (button) and Ryan Comely (big blind) came along to the K8Q flop. It checked to Dalphond who fired 7,500.

Comely called while Cairns mucked his hand. Both remaining players checked the 2 turn and Dalohond showed a ten as he folded when Comely fired 22k on the 10 river.

  • 5 Off the Bags

    Level:11 (1000/2000/2000)
    Entries:10/38
    Prizes:$21,660

They are down to 10 left now after Michael St. Pierre-Porter, Lynne Stephenson, and Elden Venning hit the rail near the end of Level 10. That puts them 5 eliminations away from the money now.

  • 14 Remain

    Level:10 (1000/1500/1500)
    Entries:14/38
    Prizes:$21,660

They are down to 14 players left now with Level 10 about halfway finished. Christopher Lawson and Harold Boutilier were the recent casualties to bring it down to 14.

Play will continue tonight until there are 5 players left, so they are now 9 eliminations away from the bags coming out.

  • Lawson Gets There for Double

    Level:9 (600/1200/1200)
    Entries:16/38
    Prizes:$21,660

Christopher Lawson was all-in and at risk against Tony Comely with Comely on tens against the nines of Lawson. It looked like Lawson might be going home, but he spiked a nine on the river to double up. He bought in on the dinner break so doubled his start stack up to a bit more than 50k now.

  • 38 Entries for 1a

    Level:9 (600/1200/1200)
    Entries:16/38
    Prizes:$21,660

Entries are now closed for Day 1a with 38 entries in total. That means 5 players will beg uo at the end of tonight, and they have 11 eliminations left before they get there.

During dinner, they saw two new entries with Christopher Lawson and DJ Sharma joining the field.

  • Simpson Leads at Dinner

    Level:8 (500/1000/1000)
    Entries:15/36
    Prizes:$20,520

There are just over 30 minutes left in entries for Day 1a and it’s been a pretty small one today. At the moment, there are 36 entries and 15 players are still alive. Assuming nothing changes during dinner, they’ll play down to 5 players before the bags come out so this should be a relatively short night.

Trevor Simpson has the big stack at dinner, one of 3 players with more than 100k in front of them now. See below for a full look at the chips from dinner.

  • Comely Takes a Big One

    Level:8 (500/1000/1000)
    Entries:17/34
    Prizes:$19,380

In the final hand of the previous level, Harold Boutilier opened it up with a limp under the gun. Larry Quon bumped it up to 2,000 from the button and Tony Comely called from the big blind, as did Boutilier.

The flop was 4K3 and it checked to Quon who bet 2,500. Only Comely came along to see the Q turn. They both checked to the A river when Comely check-raised from 5,000 to 35,000 and forced the fold from Quon. Comely showed K9 for the flopped top pair and the win.

I’ll grab another round of chip counts on the dinner break following this level.

  • Dalphond Nearing 70k

    Level:7 (400/800/800)
    Entries:19/33
    Prizes:$18,810

Johnny Dalphond just picked up a double through Harold Boutilier when Dalphond flopped two pair with king-queen and Boutilier turned two-pair with king-ten. Dalphond held for a big double on his 32k stack to send him up to about 70k while Boutilier is down under 10k now.

  • Stephenson Takes it on Turn

    Level:7 (400/800/800)
    Entries:19/33
    Prizes:$18,810

Jake Tucker limped in under the gun, and that set off a limp-fest from four players. All four checked on the 1035 flop and small blind Lynne Stephenson fired 3,100 on the A turn. That was enough to push out the other players and push her stack close to 70k now.

  • Chop It Up

    Level:6 (300/600/600)
    Entries:19/33
    Prizes:$18,810

Cindy Grabia and Kevin Lee just chopped a reasonably big pot. Lee opened the middle to 1,200 before Grabia reraised the small blind to 3,500. Lee called to the 996 flop where they both checked to 6 on the turn. Grabia fired 3k and git a call to the J river where both players checked. Grabia was on ace-king against ace-queen for Lee, but the double-paired board meant neither kicker played and they chopped it with sixes and nines, ace kicker.

  • Main Event Winner from Oct in the Mix

    Level:6 (300/600/600)
    Entries:20/32
    Prizes:$18,240

The most recent entry for today’s flight was Vancouver’s Kevin Lee. Lee was here at Casino Edmonton last October and took down the Main Event in that series, so he’ll be a force to be reckoned with here today likely. Tony Comely is also back in the mix seated on Table 13 with his new stack.

  • 31 Entries for 1a So Far; Ozog Takes One

    Level:6 (300/600/600)
    Entries:19/31
    Prizes:$17,670

Level 6 has just begun with 31 entries on the board and 19 players still in the action. Jerry Ozog just took a small-ish pot from Cindy Grabia. I arrived at the table with action on the flop and the board reading A98.

Ozog check-called for 600 and they both checked the 5 turn. Ozog fired 1,200 on the [invalid notations] river and Grabia called, showing an ace as she micked when Ozog showed J for the turned flush.

  • St. Pierre-Porter Leads at Break

    Level:5 (300/500/500)
    Entries:18/27
    Prizes:$15,390

Michael St. Pierre-Porter looks to be having a great start to the series. He was runner-up last night in the Bounty game and is now chip leader early on Day 1a of Event #3.

  • Stephenson Gets Turn Value

    Level:4 (200/400/400)
    Entries:18/27
    Prizes:$15,390

Jon Jaquard raised to 1k under the gun and Lynne Stephenson called from the cutoff as did Jatinder Brar from the big blind. Brar checked to Jacquard on the K89 flop and Jacquard fired 1,300.

Both other players called to the A turn. It checked to Stephenson who fired out 5k. Brar made the call but Jacquard mucked his hand with a frustrated sight.

The river was [3s] and Brar check-folded to a bet of 7k from Stephenson. The players will be off for their first break of the day in about 3 minutes and I’ll grab some chip counts then.

  • Comely Flops Enough

    Level:4 (200/400/400)
    Entries:21/25
    Prizes:$14,250

I arrived at the table with the action on the turn and the board reading 9862. It checked around to Trevor Cameron in the cutoff and he bet 3,800 only to see Ryan Comely check-raise to 8,500.

Cameron put in the call and they both checked the J river. Comely showed ace-nine for he flopped top pair and Cameron mucked his hand.

  • Simpson’s Ducks Hold

    Level:3 (200/300/300)
    Entries:22/24
    Prizes:$13,680

Harold Boutilier raised to 500 under the gun before Tony Comely raised it up to 1,100. Trevor Simpson called from the small blind and Boutilier put in the rest as well to see a three-way flop of 647. They all checked it through the remainder of the J8 runout. Comely announced king-high, Boutilier announced ace-high, but Simpson showed pocket deuces for the win.

It looks like Michael St. Pierre-Porter, who was runner up to Pav Braich in the Bounty last night, is stacking chips with around 35k in front of him right now. I’ll grab a look at the big stacks when they head off on break in about 35 minutes.

  • Up to 24 Entries

    Level:3 (200/300/300)
    Entries:22/24
    Prizes:$13,680

There are 24 entries on the board now with 15 minutes to play in Level 3. Mal Hagan was a recent addition to the field for a total of 22 players still at the felt right now. Hagan is joining Lynne Stephenson, Johnny Dalphond, Jon Jaquard, and the others at Table 13.

  • Dalphond Moves from Cutoff

    Level:2 (100/200/200)
    Entries:19/20
    Prizes:$11,400

David McKee opened the betting with a raise to 500 under the gun. Cindy Grabia called two to his left as did Jatinder Brar from her left. Johnn Dalphond was on the cutoff and made it 2,500 to go, getting calls from all three other players.

The flop came 3J4 and it checked to Dalphond who fired 2,500 again to get folds all around. They’ve just opened a new table now with the addition of a few new players for 19 remaining from 20 entries so far.

  • Up to 16 Entries

    Level:2 (100/200/200)
    Entries:16/17
    Prizes:$9,690

The 1a field is now up to 17 entries for prizes of $9,690 to start Level 2 today. Below is a look at the current field with seats and starting chip counts. I haven’t had a chance to look at any updated stacks yet, and likely won’t until the first break around 2 pm.

With two events in the books from the opening day, the 2025 PPT #1 is in full swing now with the first multi-day tournament of the year for the tour. Event #3 kicks off at 1 PM on Friday, Feb 14 for the first of two starting days with a redo for Day 1b on Saturday.

Day 1 plays 30-minutes levels with 25,000 in chips to start. Players will have eight levels of play to enter the game, which should be the final chance to enter at about 6 PM when the players return from the dinner break following Level 8.

After that, it will be a race down to 12.5% of the starting field before they bag up the qualifying stacks for Sunday’s Day 2. I should be focused on this until they bag, after which I’ll move to the Team Event if it’s still going.

  • First Multi-Day Kicks Off on Friday

    Event 3:Event #3: $670 NLH Multi-Day Day 1a
    Date:Day 1a: Feb 14, 1 PM

    Blinds:30/40 Minutes
    Starting Stack:25k
    Late Entry:8 Levels (~6 PM)
Day 1 Ends:Day 1 Ends at 12.5% of the Original Field

  • Maloney Leads Day 2 Stacks

    Level:16 (3000/6000/6000)
    Entries:10/82 (15/120 combined)
    Prizes:Day 1b: $46,740, Combined: $68,400

Day 1b is complete with Jason Heang as the bubble for Day 2 tonight. Stefan Maloney bagged the biggest stack today and he’ll be the leader on Sunday with 563.5k. Ali Razzaq will be second on Sunday with more than 400k while Day 1a leader Rob Limpert will be 3rd for Day 2. See below for a look at all the 1b stacks moving forward and stay tuned for the Day 2 seats coming shortly.

It was a spirited heads-up match between Paul Brar and Weston Pring. Brar had about a 2:1 lead to start heads up, but the chips moved around quite a bit. Both players held the lead a few separate times.

They started the two-handed play with 100 big blinds on the table but it took a couple of hours to finally decide it when they got down to about 30 bigs total. Pring hero-called a bluff in the second to last hand for a huge lead, and it ended shortly after with king-six for Brar into king-jack for Pring. The best kicker held and Brar was out in second place.
